I've started a small-scale science demo clinic for a group of home schooled peoples and I've already tried out a few demos that worked out great...meaning the kids thought they were cool AND actually learned about the principles too. I've shown them really basic circuits ala breadboard and multimeter, water electrolysis and fuel cell demo, the concept of wing stall, and a number of ways to figure out acceleration of falling objects. I'm looking for some new ideas. Keep in mind, these kids range from 8-15 years old.

i don't know if they do this anymore, but in my day, the Society of Physics Students did a community outreach program to local elementary schools. we did mostly optics stuff - shine laser through fiber optic cable, shine laser through cloud of chalk dust, show index of refraction through water, infinite mirror. check with SPS or Dr. John Blondin in the physics program for more ideas.

i've done some of these projects with kids too. check with the science house on centennial campus. they have a program for this, i've seen it.
