Two issues. One my current setup has stopped detecting my soundcard. I ripped everything out to install a new processor/motherboard and put everything back when they didn't work (that is issue 2). But my soundcard (SB Audigy) is now not working. When XP loads up it say "Soundcard Improperly Installed" plz reinstall, etc. So I have tried several times to put in the card in different PCI slots, and nothing. I have also tried installing updated drivers, but the installer crashes. WTF am I doing wrong? Everything is back just like it was before I had put the new proc/mobo in, so why is it doing this?
Issue Two. I had posted on a previous thread that I got a 3.7 ghz Athlon 64 for Christmas, as well as a DFI Lanparty UTI nF4 Ultra-D Socket 939 mobo and a Zalman heatsink. This is not my first build, and everything went fine until I tried to fire it up. The LEDs lit up for a processor detection error. Checked the processor and it was in just fine, no bent pins and lined up properly in place. Checked the heatsink and thermal paste, it had great contact with both. I kinda ran outta things I could think of. So I took everything out and am guessing I have to give NewEgg a call and get an RMA # and ship the proc/mobo back to them. But before I do, can anybody think of anything else I might have missed. The website said that the mobo has a BIOS update to address issues with Athlon 64 processors, but I can't even get it to post to fucking flash the BIOS.
So yea, its been a shitty weekend. I just bought BF2 and have it sitting on my desk and now I can't get my new shit to work, and now I can't even get my old shit to work so that I can run it in stripped down mode. 2/12/2006 6:24:31 PM |

Reinstall windows for #1.
#2: Flash in DOS with a bootable CD/USB key drive/floppy, download the .zip file of your board's BIOS, and flash that way. 2/14/2006 9:46:44 PM |

Yea I meant 3700+ sorry.
Yes the PSU is brand new, and has all the bells and whistles. Sata power connectors, regular power connectors, the new PSU cord with the extra 4 pins that are removeable, all that shit. It is being used in my old mobo/psu that I am on right now.
For the soundcard issue, I should probably just yank out the card, uninstall the drivers and programs, restart, and then reinstall drivers and then restart and add the card right? 2/14/2006 9:52:06 PM |
