Well, now you all can officially call me an idiot cause I just bought a 3rd bike...
There was a fiasco about this bike since I was suppose to get it like 2 weeks ago, but someone had to try to buy it with no money... I was trying to get a 2004 gixxer 600 on ebay, but was outbidded by someone on this board. Well, The guy wanted me to send a check, but I told him no. I wanted to pay him in cash in person. So I took a picture of 2400 bucks and emailed to him showing him that I was serious since he has to drive 3 hours to my house.
Guy came over around 9am this morning, gave him roll of cash and I got the gixxer. Funny thing as it turns out to be an 05 gsxr. Not sure what I'm going to do with the gixxer now. I may turn it into a dedicated stunter, but I'll see in a future. Just need to get the RR fixed first. Here's some pics:
I got three bikes now, might have to get rid of one to cover the cost of repairing the other two. 2/17/2006 9:28:30 AM |

[Edited on February 17, 2006 at 11:25 AM. Reason : well i guess jbaz can do it up to three times before he runs out of bikes]

you need to chop the tail off of it and make a little stubby solo tail, kind of like a Buell...then keep the rest of it as naked as possible. 2/17/2006 11:43:16 AM |

kyle can't stunt worth shit. Now that I have the RR, I can do power wheelies. I can hold 1st gear down pretty good, but working on 2nd gear and stand-up wheelies. 2/17/2006 12:44:24 PM |

stop talking shit b4 i punch u in the face, about power wheelies, just yank on the throttle. ill be impressed when u find the bp on these bikes and cruise around going 5mph or less on them, until then yanking the bike up with the clutch isnt that big of a deal.
let me say it again.. yes i wrecked the r6 clutching it up too high i think everyone knows this. stop making it another one of your deer stories. whenever someone makes fun of you, u go pulling jokes on me, ur cool.

well all of last week was exams... so I didnt get to work on the RR. I'm buying parts for the gixxer next week. It kind of takes time when rebuilding bikes... duh. And since I work 25 hours a week and a full time student, and do side webdesign work. Well, weekends is the only time I have time left to work on bikes. 2/17/2006 11:00:38 PM |

I fixed the rear faring with fiber glass today, but I really worked on the RR more. Tomorrow, I'll end up working on the RR and F2 mostly and start buying parts on ebay tomorrow. Bikebandit doesn't even stock 2005 parts for the gixxer. Anyone know any other oem online sites that I can find parts. That suzuki dealership near campus really sucks and I don't want to give them money cause they are stupid. 2/19/2006 2:38:12 AM |

Well, TV got the best of me this weekend so I did some work, but nothing I really wanted to do. Anyhow, here's the progress of the gixxer.
After having some experience with fiberglass, I decided to try the liquid based resin instead of the green glob ones that bondo has to make it "easier to use". That stuff is nasty and hard to work with, but it can hold it self up, unlike the liquid based resin. I sanded the area down with 80 grit sand paper, wiped it off with denaturalized alcohol then used aluminum foil taped to the other side to provide support and create the form.
Next I mixed the resin with the hardener. I never used this resin before so I over-estimated the amount that I needed by mixing about 1/2 cup (4 ounces). When I applied the resin over the fiberglass, I realized that it was running off and wasn't as sticky as the other type of resin. It did soak into the fiberglass mat. It only took about 15 mins to dry and I removed the foil and its like a window. Hehe. Although I'm going to have to add a second layer of fiberglass because one layer is very thin and the middle of the hole is flexing a bit when applying pressure. 2/20/2006 7:31:26 PM |

throttle. feather clutch, raise front end. more throttle. pull clutch, shift to second, more throttle. maintain balance. clutch, repeat until in top gear; after having reached top gear focus on where the vehicle is headed. more throttle. upon reaching satisfaction, release throttle gently. end wheelie. (400ex - hahaha)
looks like JBaz is gonna start a bike shop.

you do realize that fiberglass resin by itself is very brittle right? and one layer of fiberglass won't hold shit
you should use fiberglass chopped strand matt for a stronger piece. 4+ layers will make a strong piece. i'd suggest fiberglassing both the frontside and the back side over top of the plastic to make sure it stays in place as fiberglass does not stick to plastic. 2/20/2006 10:10:58 PM |
JBaz All American 16764 Posts user info edit post |
yes... I'm not like a textiles major or something... wait a second... already added a 2nd layer and seems to be strong enough, besides, this is just a faring piece which is not a load baring structure. I'm not to worried about it breaking apart if I drop it, cause if I drop it, I'll end up redoing body work again anyhow. The bikes are only getting a $20 dollar paint job anyhow. **rattle rattle rattle** 2/21/2006 1:34:05 AM |
