It's the ugly green one.

Works great. I've put something like 800 rounds through it. I still have the stock rings (1", they lock onto the dovetail/tip-off rail cut into the receiver top) and the manual. Magazine works fine (I fire full 10+1 loads all the time). I also have seven boxes of Remington Thunderbolt (.22LR, duh) if anyone's interested. It should be clean and in working order unless I poached pigeons and clubbed seals one night in my sleep. There's black stuff all over the outside of the magazine, but no harmful effects on function. *shrug*

It's more accurate than I am (n00b), so I can't really tell you anything about groups. I know it'll do less than 5MOA, lol

I need some cash, and I don't especially like the Remington. I'm trying to save up for a CZ 452 Lux, will probably get that sometime over the summer. I'll make do with my Mauser in the meantime. (FETC rocks, btw)

Gunsamerica tells me that lightly-used camo 597s go for about $150, so I guess I'm going to start taking bids at $100?

Hey don't look at me. It's apparently $160 MSRP for a plain black synthetic model, and AFAICT the camo stock was a limited run from back in 2000. I had to clean it up ALOT, the last owner apparently failed to clean the guide rails.

Anyway, AFTER I cleaned the poor thing, I had no failures which weren't either caused by incorrect loading of the magazine (don't put #10 in basefirst and rotate into position, the gun will not be happy) or cheap ammo.

i couldn't tell you what it is, but since it's the other gun in the picture, and i'm interested in it, i'll just agree

It's an M48. And I'm not fucking selling.

I might buy a couple more, though, just for fun. (One to scout-scope, one to leave "proper", one to go bananas with and convert into .376 Steyr...)

You know, the collecting thing never appealed to me that much. If it's pretty and it shoots well, that's enough for me.

That said, I don't like the modern "sporter" look (I like upper handguards, sue me), but oh well.
