a buddy of mine had a 4cyl avenger and that thing was a bitch to work on. the water pump required either pulling the engine or drilling a hole in the frame to get a bolt out

Triangle Alternator and Starter will rebuild it for like $120. That's where I took my Supra's alternator.

dang.. thats one of the few easy things to change on my bird. its right on top takes about 5-10 minutes to take the belt, the 3 bolts off, new one on, and the belt back on. I have to change mine tomorrow actually, my roomate crossed up the wires when he was jumping off another roomates car. Killed my roomates alternator and halfway killed mine.

Let me summarize Boob that started this thread took his car to merchants and paid them ~$500 to replace the alternator. Although one could have been purchased direct for Autozone for $160 and probably could have been installed by someone on this board for WAY less than merchants charged.

Geez, you even sure it was the alternator? My Dad's battery died this weekend, and he took it to Advance Auto and they said the alternator was bad. I tightened the belt and made him get it tested again - first alternator to pass their test all day.

when doing the install my dad mentioned to me he thought it could be my cd/mp3 player head unit that was draining the power constantly

i told the people

they checked it and it was as my dad said, he called that shit from 200 miles away and these fucks couldnt get that shit with their hands in the hood

they took it out for free and didnt charge me anything
