I got already blooming daffodils for Valentine's Day that I'd like to repot into a bigger pot. I can't put them in the soil as I'm moving sometime in the next few months and I'd like to take them with me when I move. Should I wait for the daffodils to die down before repotting them? Or should I just not worry about it and leave them in the pot they came in? I've never transplanted bulbs before and I definitely don't want them to die. Thanks in advance! 2/24/2006 3:01:27 PM |

I vote that they would be fine to repot now. My gardening is limited though. 2/25/2006 12:34:15 PM |

you can repot them yes. be careful not to disturb the rootball when you remove the pot from the soil. 2/25/2006 1:40:37 PM |

^yeah i just did some searching on google and it seems that i can repot now but make sure i don't do that...or i can wait until it dies back naturally and replant...but i'd want to wait until the fall whenever its dormant. 2/25/2006 2:13:57 PM |

wait until they die down, then dig the bulbs out, trim the tops and the roots, dry them thoroughly, and then store them in a paper bag. since they were forced, though, if you can't get them into the ground this season, it is unlikely that they will bloom again next year. may take a couple seasons. 2/25/2006 2:50:33 PM |
