wondering if anyone has any experience with this med cause I just started on 10 mg and am already feeling like kind of a buzzed, alert feeling, made it almost difficult to sleep
it just seems a little odd to feel different already from the first dose 2/26/2006 2:48:46 AM |

Not unusual to feel different with any new chemical, though there's no telling how much of that is placebo effect.
Stuff made me feel dead, ditched it after the first bottle ran out. 2/26/2006 3:03:33 AM |

A little something...highly likely that it was placebo effect, but I did feel different.
After about two weeks I felt like shit. 2/26/2006 3:11:16 AM |

I became addicted to an anti-depressant (prescribed). Stay away from them. 2/26/2006 5:05:30 AM |

when i started one of those A-D's i felt like i was drunk the first day. i was pretty sure then and now that it was all placebo affect but i felt it anyways. went away after a day, once i got used to the idea of taking mind-fucking shit. that said, it didnt work after that so i quit. in fact, none of um worked. zoloft was the worst, id lay in bed for 5 hrs every day. welbutrin (sp) made me grind my jaw.
then i stopped being a pussy about it and said fuck it. 2/26/2006 8:44:41 AM |

after my experiences i have to take the position that half of it is just postive self-reinforcement. im sure it gets rid of the negative, but ultimately you just gotta make yourself feel happy. if you dont it just makes you feel like shit. for some kids though getting rid of the negative is just good enough. 2/26/2006 9:28:48 AM |

it will take your body a few days to adjust, but the first dose will definately make you feel the most dizzy and kinda out of it. that goes away. this is why they don't start you on high doses but gradually work you up to the dose you need. if you have more questions, feel free to pm. i can look up more info on the drug since i am in med school... ~skip 2/26/2006 9:56:19 AM |

get prozac 2, the one that is less likely to drive you to commit suicide. 2/26/2006 2:14:08 PM |

Be prepared to lay around for a few days like a zombie. I've had a friend who had to start it while pregnant and again later when she had a "recurrance" (or whatever you call it). 2/26/2006 2:28:13 PM |

when i first started taking it, i was wired like crazy (as you describe). Wouldn't/couldn't stop talking,cleaning...it was like i was on adderal.
After a while you adjust to it
But i decided to try to go without about 8 months ago, and a positive attitude has helped with not needing it 2/26/2006 2:42:48 PM |

Prozac had a more immediate effect on me than any other ssri has had, but it still took a few weeks for anything noticeable. Definitely made me feel more energetic than Celexa or Lexapro. I stopped taking stuff over a year ago, mainly because I had been on them for about two or three years straight and just wanted to, I don't know, to check on my "natural" state of mind or whatever. The thing is, I'm not really happy right now, but I wasn't happy on antidepressents either, and my life just kind of sucks now so it's not really a seratonin thing. I don't know. I might go back on something.
Basically, ignore every stupid "definitive" answer in this thread. Antidepressents are prescription for a reason. They're strong drugs and they affect different people differently. Work with your doctor and make sure he or she knows how you're feeling. If you really do have a problem with depression, this could make your like 100 times better. 2/26/2006 3:01:48 PM |

Look it up online... some people have ridiculous reactions to that stuff... and as with any med... if it's really bad you should call your doctor. 2/26/2006 7:28:08 PM |
