so what do you have to do for the test? 2/26/2006 7:14:44 PM |

if i was gonna load up on carbs for a test, i'd try to do it like 2 days before the test... day before might make ya sick and might not be beneficial.
i'd stop training on a monday or tuesday if the thing is friday. no more than three days rest.
this is all just a guess though. 2/26/2006 7:16:27 PM |

you still need to do something during the days before the test, just don't push yourself hard. generally its better to taper down gradually then just stop & wait. 2/26/2006 7:41:11 PM |

There has been almost no solid evidence to suggest carb loading will help.
I really need to know what you are currently doing, and what you will be tested on.
Usually, I start tapering two weeks before the event/test. Lower volume, maybe lower intensity.
The week of the event/test, do very little. Keep your muscles loose and stay healthy (mentally and physically). Eat balanced, don't need to load on carbs. It's like overloading on any other nutrient (vitamins, minerals, protein, etc).
Also, what time of day is the test? 2/26/2006 8:12:41 PM |

From what you've told me, you don't need to taper much for this test.
Just take it easy two to three days ahead of the test. 2/26/2006 11:28:17 PM |

i'd recommend some stuff that is light on your joints... if you've been running a lot try using a cross-trainer or swimming for the last few days of training
if you've been lifting a lot of weights id switch to pushups/pullups or switch to lower weights and concentrate more on your range of motion, technique, and negatives...
Implement a lot of stretching in place of some of your lifting/running also.
You dont want to be inactive and let atrophy set in, but you want to be fresh on gameday. 2/27/2006 11:06:56 AM |

you will not atrophy from 1 week of rest. 2/27/2006 11:30:09 AM |

well seeing as how i had no place else to really run regularly that was convienient, i had to use the tread. i kept the intensity up so i think it will be useful 2/27/2006 2:36:07 PM |
