The best was a post to Slashdot which read:
Quote : | "Plus, the "Do you know where I can go" bit. Now I'm going to worry that a thing from Microsoft that wants me to touch it can go under my bed and wait for me to fall asleep." |
I LOLed

ehh, for something that's going to be portable and sleek, microsoft should have hired someone from apple to help design the thing...

I click the "Gallery" link expecting to see shots of the actual product, and you get a page with several dozen background images for the program launcher? wtf... that's lame. http://origamiproject.com/gallery/gallery.aspx
Not to mention, the backgrounds look a bit familiar.... http://images.google.com/images?&q=os+x+default+background 3/9/2006 11:50:31 AM |

so ms is trying to resell us the pda in the form of an ultra portable tablet? seems like the must useless computer I could waste money on. big enough to not fit in my pocket so that I'd expect to be able to do real work and run some resource intensive software yet small enough to have weaksauce hardware in the name of "portability." 3/9/2006 12:06:53 PM |

No, it is not a PDA. Its a full functioning PC. It doesn't use Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, etc. It uses full MS Office. You can do everything you need from it rather then simple notes and calendar oriented functions that most PDA's are centered around. Its actually a viable video display too, instead of the cramped and lower quality display of most PDAs, smart phones, and media handhelds. As for the hardware, most are starting with about 1Ghz duo-core centrino processor, 40Gb of hardrive space and 512Mb of RAM.
Good image of the Samsung model:

funny thing is, its coming out now that none of the models on display at CeBit or that have been announced are commercially viable.
AKA the batteries in them suck, just like the original tablet PC's. Packing all that shit in a super portable formfactor leaves you with 20-30 minutes of juice at the moment. 3/13/2006 12:56:35 AM |

This really isn't that exciting.
In today's market it would actually be pretty difficult to come out with a product that realyl makes people think "WOW!"
This is kinda cool - nice how far technology has come in terms of scale but I wouldn't buy one. 3/13/2006 12:55:40 PM |
