I've been posting my resume to just about everywhere. i've gotten some of the fastest responses from replying to job postings on craigslists.

anyone else have any pointers or noticed any trends?

My most promising lead so far has come from emailing the officers of the professional organization for the industry I want to work in where I'd like to live. I'm looking to do engineering consulting, and for that industry they told me they rely more on word of mouth than recruiting to hire new employees. If you want to work for a smaller company, cold calling will be much more effective than posting your resume.

a guerilla tactic is to go on the company sites that you like and submit your resume and then hound the HR personnel. it worked for me. got an interview after tons of harrassment, etc . . .
