I have a long standing, biased, somewhat irrational prejudice (are all prejudice's biased?) that chicks just aren't funny, especially when doing voices or characters. This attempt at by Natalie Portman only reinforced it even more.
I mean Parnell and Sandberg were funny because 1) they're funny in general (at least Parnell is, i've not seen anything else Sandberg has done), 2) they're lyrics were clever and didn't overly rely on just being gross or vulgar but were based on the ridiculous premise of getting uptown to see Narnia, 3) they were able to pull off the "lame jewish white boys acting like thugs" act quite well, etc etc.

the only thing this rap had was a girl trying to seriously act like a thug (as opposed to the Narnia, faux-thug rap) and curse a lot.

I just think the "laugh at white people trying to rap" thing has been done. It's not funny in itself anymore, and this sketch didn't add anything.

I happened to catch the show on Saturday night and it just reinforced my belief that SNL is in a very low place right now.

Nevermind, I found it some place else.

Yeah, not as good as I had initially guessed it would be. I dunno, maybe hearing sex, violence and drug references and listening to white people do rap has no more shock value to me anymore. Plus I think Natalie was trying a little too hard or taking herself a little too seriously during the rapping, which made the whole thing more sad than funny.

I did like how the little girl dressed up as Queen Amidala got pwnt by her, though.

I think the Natalie Portman's rap was alright, I wished she would have broke the bottle over the amidala kid's head as well.

this skit wasn't even remotely funny. they're just trying to follow up on the narnia rap. re-doing the same funny sketch isn't going to good the second time around unless you actually have a character that is funny in and of themselves.

It was ok. Nothing incredible, and it's definitely been done before. BUT, it wasn't horrible. I laughed when she blew off the little kid, as well as the part about her cheating at school.

And she did break a chair over that dude, which is always something I've wanted to do..

I dunno.. it wasn't bad.. just not extremely funny.
