ok, so how much do you think it would cost for the following.

i figured id get them in whole, and cut them at home.

two twelve foot 2x4 pieces.
one sheet of plywood (anywhere sell that shit in like 2'X6' section?). they come is stock 4X8 right??

im trying to make an overhead shelf in my side room in my garage.

i was thinking one out of wood, like in the pic. and nail a sheet of plywood over it.

the piece on wall 1 is longer because im going to nail it to 3 studs, if i make it same size at the rest, it will only hit 2 of them. wall 3 has a horizontal type stud, so ill just run some nails on it. and wall 2, i gotta find some studs, there is a work bench that is below this shelve and im going to use the same studs the bench has.

then i saw this. for like $60. Hyloft ceiling mouted shelf. this way, i can just use 4 mounting spots on the ceiling (should be easy to find some studs)

im thinking the hyloft metal one would be easier to do and quicker. but if i can get some wood for not that much, i may just make it my little project.

shit, i forgot to log out after uploading pics.

BTW, its not going to be in the main garage like the pic of the hyloft one.

oh and instead of building the frame, and mounting it up, i was most likely gonna just measure and cut and nail as i go. cuz i aint no pro and i know ill make that shit like 2 inches short.

By the hyloft one. It'll look better and won't fall apart. Fulfill your manly needs elsewhere

You're mechanically inclined enough to work on cars but you can't figure out how to build a simple shelf?

Just buy 2"x4"x8' whatever is the cheapest, will run you less than $3 each, go ahead and pick up 4.
On the sides not supported by lag srcews into the wall, hang it from the ceiling with a chain. ($3-$5)

For the shelf 3/8" or 5/8" thick 4'x8' plywood should be okay (less than $15) Get lowes/home depot to cut it down to the size you need.

we have a hyloft in our garage for our hurricane window boards. we thought about building something but honestly it wasn't worth it since this thing was only $60 and pretty easy to install.
