I need some help. I need the .iso file for Windows XP Professional. I have a bought and registered copy of XP Pro, and the CD is scratched to a point where the computer won't pull certain files off it. I know I should have taken better care of it, but things got shuffled around when I moved from Raleigh, and I lost track of it. If someone has the .iso file and we can find a way to send it, please pm me. Thanks!!

just make sure you get the right media type

i.e. retail, vlmk,oem, etc...

the other thing you might do if you want a more "legit" solution is call microsoft and order a replacement cd.


also, if the cd came with your pc and you bought it thru like Dell or Hp or whoever, they might be able to send you a replacement cd.

cool, thanks! I'm gonna see if I can't get hold of Microsoft today then. I just knew that ECE classes had the .iso available for free and I was going to see if I could get it going today....

you might also ask around your local IT deparment to see if they could burn you off a copy.

Turns out it wasn't the cd at all. I had two different size memory sticks in my mobo, and it was screwing it up. I took one out, and it worked fine even with the scratches.... Thanks for all the help though guys!

Wrong. I already had the purchased and registered version of Windows XP Professional. I just thought my cd was scratched and wouldn't work. Turns out it wasn't the cd at all.... I don't need to pirate software. I could have afforded to buy it again, but I wanted to explore all the alternatives before I buy the same product I already have a registration for....
