I'm looking for a very specific response. Who has the best cell phone service in eastern Johnston County (anywhere east of Smithfield), Wilson County, Lenoir County and the area immediately around Ayden?
I could use some responses from folks in any of those areas. I'm completely frustrated with my Alltel service. It's gotten progressively worse over the last year, and it's nearly unusable in way too many places now. 3/11/2006 1:56:50 PM |

I can't say it any better than this: US Cellular.
Yes, the phone selection sucks. But you know what's worse? Having a tricked out RAZR super duper phone that can't call a damn soul. I've had US Cellular for 4 years and I've never been in an area where I didn't have at least 1 bar of service. From driving on the sand at the Outer Banks to the mountains of West Virginia to the lower tip of Florida, and even up in the PA Mountains.
The calls are always clear and I never have signal issues. You'll hafta live with a not-so-fancy phone, but at least you can actually use it. After all, it's a phone. 3/11/2006 2:34:36 PM |

^ agree with him on US Cellular, always got great reception
the only reason i switched from US Cellular to Alltel was b/c i was always in raleigh so i had to get a regional plan b/c it was too much money for me 3/11/2006 2:45:50 PM |

NOT Sprint- my best friend's mom ditched her land line when she finally decided to get a cell phone and got a Sprint one. Even after going to the Sprint store and getting all sorts of upgrades she can't make or receive any calls from her home (Wilson)--she can only make them if she is visiting her grandmother in Zebulon. It's horrible 3/11/2006 3:20:16 PM |

I am from Ayden and I have to go with US Cellular.
I have used US Cellular for 8 years, right down to the same telephone number. I have had nothing but the best reception with it. From Raleigh, to Emerald Isle, and up to Richmond, Va. I even have great reception out in the boonies way outside of Ayden.
I still use US Cellular even though I've lived in Raleigh for several years.

ive always had good verizon signal except in greenville. but they are getting ready to open a verizon store in gville so i assume they are working to make the eastern NC coverage better. 3/12/2006 8:05:45 AM |

My vote: USCC
the only reason i left them was because i needed a no-roaming deal. if you're looking just mainly those areas, i'd definitely say USCC, and keep in mind, they contract out their service in metro areas (like raleigh and greensboro) to Verizon Wireless, so it's kinda like you're getting the best of both worlds. 3/12/2006 9:03:47 PM |

us cellular did not work at emerald isle until recently, if it even does yet, and anyone who says it did is a liar. alltell works there decently. but back to the topic, us cellular does work in the boonies everywhere in pitt county. and almost every other boonies for that matter. 3/12/2006 9:53:59 PM |

actually i say Sprint...mostly because they have a deal worked out with Verizon (huge network already) but basically if there's no Sprint signal available, you roam for FREE on Verizon's network. cant beat that.
besides, when you call someone who has Alltell, it does that gay "click, click, click" noise when its trying to connect. whats the deal w/ that? does the network actually not know where the phone is at the time? lol, lame. and Suncom? lol, they DONT get it. 3/13/2006 3:45:07 PM |
