For those that want to play Harry Homeowner:
btw for those who don't know I am a gardening nut. This weekend my wife and I completely redid the landscaping in the front yard, added a flower/bush bed, and mulched everything
Before:
Starting the rocks:
New landscaping:
Pansies (over 100)
Where the roses used to be:
Mailbox:
New side garden:
New front of house (awaiting the flowers I have growing upstairs) (note we used weed block alot too)
The front of the house now:
so $300 later and lots and lots of labor into it we have a nicer front yard!!!! 3/13/2006 9:04:56 PM |

only one rose would have been salvageable so I said forget it
I may plant 1 or 2 rose bushed again...but for the money I am better off with say a butterfly bush 3/13/2006 9:45:16 PM |

Looks good. I can't wait to own a home so I can work in the yard. What are you gonna do in the spot where the daffodils are once they are done blooming? 3/14/2006 1:58:02 AM |

Looks nice. I would definitely kill off the grass you have and reseed it. Right now that seriously detracts from your yard... that and the blue... what's up with the blue anyway?
Paint your mailbox blue and it'll look better.
Also you should put some trim or brick along your driveway to give it a more refined look and keeps the grass off .
Otherwise very nice!

Blue was the color when we bought the house.....I hope to change it to maroon in 2 years when I replace the garage door.

I would do the brick edging on the driveway if I had a concrete driveway. As it is I don't have straight edges so it would look really bad. Also only half the neighborhood has a paved driveway so it looks better than most
The yard (gah to it) is a major project I will tackle in april. I don't want to think about it yet 3/14/2006 9:05:59 AM |

Good work! I am sure you put a lot of time and labor into it (been there, done that)
Have you considered a new mailbox? I think the ones with the newspaper holder under the mailbox look better. I don't know how the newspaper works (if you need a seperate one with the name on it or what), but if you have the option I would replace it all. 3/14/2006 9:33:36 AM |

can't see the pics but i guess we had the same idea:
planted 228 annuals - petunias, salvia, violas, marigolds, impatians, celosia, verbena
pulled out several old plants that were planted before we bought the house
shaped up all the bushes
fertilized and weeded the yard
yikes i'm sore 3/14/2006 9:48:42 AM |
