sony's launch will be much different from microsoft's 360. this year there will be an established next gen alternative for parents to easily purchase if the ps3 is out of stock. the "next-gen" thing is now a year old and more people are jumping on, sony is going to donate ALOT of potential market share if they can't keep these things in stock. making it practically a worldwide launch is going to hurt their abilities to fill demand.

That's what I thought about the xbox when the 360 came out. MS basically raised the price of the original xbox when the 360 came out. My best guess is that they wanted to make the older system less attractive because the launch titles of the 360 really didn't make it a significant leap over current gen systems.
