why

the fuck

do my tires cost more

when they use less rubber?

(I realize it has to do with the unique size and shit like that but I feel like complaining and you guys can share my pain)

spinning rims, low profile tires, yachts are all forms of the stupidity tax

designed to attract the stupid to the shiny, while the money goes to the clever

anyone who spends $1000 on tires... TIRES is either getting ripped off or better be professionally racing.

Now if they have lifetime warranties that mean you never have to buy tires again, hey no prob... but they are tires... just that. Rubber, metal mesh... and more rubber.

I spent 1000 bucks on tires in the past year. But my tires only last about 4,000 miles.

hahaha Chance he's had a hardon for me for a while.

yeah, 285/60/R18's aren't exactly "low profile", I don't have spinners, and my "yacht" is a mighty 20' long (and it was $6g, not exactly something to sell the farm for) so... looks like you fail at lift again Tiberius.

The tires were $198 a pop, + all the superfluous "NC Environmental fee" which is bullshit, I could just go fucking burn them in the backyard. Mounting fee, warranty.... the works, comes out to a cool g.

These tires are supposedly the best thing you can do to your VX though.

I should have qualified that statement.

These things smooth out the stiff ride while maintaining the same handling. They also fill out the wheel well better AND are about 4000% better offroad than the stock duelers.

Basically, just like the vehicle was designed, these tires are capable offroad, while maintaining excellent on-road manners.

Igor, I'll have pics when they get installed. Discount Tire had to special order them, should be on this coming week sometime.

My options were limited to begin with. I guess this is just going with the path of least resistence.

and my seat is *STILL* fucked because nobody will touch the shit without replacing the whole panel.

I'll be checking my lugs for sure.

how do you figure? good luck buying a set of performance tires in any reasonable size (like my 225s and 255s, not to mention the larger ones on more even powerful cars) for much less than $1000. My BFGs are very close to $900 for a set, and that's the sports car tire for the budget-conscious. A set of Potenzas would be well over $1000.

I've got no problems buying cheap fucking tires.

For example...I can buy almost three sets of Kumho's for what a set of Michelins would cost me. And I'd get more miles out of three sets. True, traction might not be as good, but ya learn to deal with what ya got, and I'm not competing with them, so fuck it.

I get more of a high doing outrageous shit with stuff that other folks only consider mediocre.

Exceeding expectations on a shoestring budget is waaayyy cooler than plain ol' status quo and breaking the bank.

Kumho SPT's...$110 each...255/45/17. I know I can't race with them, but they beat a new GTI! and I spent half of $1000, YES!

my vette came with a set of kumho KD?? some shit, anyway, decent in rain but very sketchy if you pushed th car. they were 800 i think. I have Goodyear Supercar on it now (1200) and its unreal the difference in traction. Way i see it is you better put a tire on the car that can handle the car. No you may not drive hard all the time, but its a big ass risk to have tires far inferior to what your car can do. Gotta pay to play...

I don't think so... but thanks for playing.

also, the guys down at the discount tire on hwy 55 in cary are pretty cool. They got me in and out in about an hour. Also the manager there gave me the $50 mail in rebate right then and there and threw in the tire replacement certs for half off.

And the lugnuts are tight.

Really

it aint shit.

and the smaller tires look stupid now in comparison to how the bigger ones fill the well. I don't think they even make this particular tire in the "stock" size 245/60/18. This was the tire that was recommended by everyone that has owned them on this vehicle, and I have to say that they were right. I've only lost a little bit of 'umph' off the line and the handling hasn't suffered a bit and now I can do some mild offroad in it without worrying about sliding everywhere. Also the wider footprint should help on the sand where I regularly pull trailers around.
