i mean, where were you going with that comment anyway? are you saying it's a bad thing that we will have guys good at passing and shooting 3's? and then if you are including costner, you left off ferguson. he is good at passing and shooting 3's. also we will have atsur back, but i guess he is an evtimov too because he can pass and shoot 3's.

come to think of it, there seem to be a lot of evtimov's in college basketball, and pretty much everyone in the nba is an evtimov.

i hope we can recruit some more simmons' too. they are the ones that dunk the ball when you give it to them in the post.

you called them evtimov's because they can shoot 3's and pass the ball. ferguson is 6'5" and atsur is 6'4", not that much shorter than 6'7" and 6'8".

this is a stupid fucking discussion anyway. you can't just lump all these guys into a group and call them "evtimov's" because they are his height and share 2 skills extremely common to the game of basketball.

I think DaveOT was trying to say that we don't know what those guys will do. If you said Ilian didn't provide much else beyond 3pt shooting and passing, you'd be right.


Since we have 3 young guys coming in that have Evtimov's skill sets, there's no utility in keeping another, older player who doesn't do jack shit outside of them... even if it means Atsu(dots)r will be our only senior.

how have i taken it too far? i'm using his same logic. nobody knows jack shit about ANY of these recruits until they actually take the court in a state uniform and play. i'm pointing out that there are several people in that height range that can shoot 3's and pass well, and they are NOTHING like Evtimov. I mean, we might as well just rename the Forward position and call it Evtimov for fuck's sake.

^see, that's not at all what i got out of his post. but i can't read apparantly so i could be wrong. i got that we have 3 more evtimov's coming next year, and it seemed like he was saying that in a negative context. if all he was saying is that we won't miss evtimov, then yeah i agree with that. in fact, i think it's so obvious that everyone would agree with that, it shouldn't even have to be said.

Okay, I didn't intend for that to be a troll originally, just a joke...but doing nothing but studying 24/7 for three weeks straight can fuck with you a little.

To explain my point--yes, several of the following posters did pick up on it. I'm not worried about the loss of Ev because we have three guys with the same skills that can fill his place (four, if you count Ben--but I really like his footwork in the post, so I hope he doesn't play Ev's style). Ev never really recovered from those knee injuries, not to mention the foot ligament this year.

On a side note, the only graduating player that concerns me this year is Cam, because of the fire he added on plenty of occasions. While I expect Fells, Ferguson, and Davis to fill the guard roles that Tony and Cam played (and hopefully add to them), we will once again be looking for a guy to just take over when we need it.

I don't think Grant will do it--he's a far more calm guy than Hodge was. I don't want Atsur doing it, because he seems to falter when he feels like the pressure is on him.

^Yeah, Ev's knee problems had a HUGE impact.

I mean, just look at the way he shoots. He basically doesn't leave the ground, even when he's 5+ feet behind the arc.

I'm split on that one.

He was a deadly 3-point shooter for a long stretch this year, and a decent ball handler in the backcourt. However, I think Fells and Davis will be able to cover for him there.

I will say, though, that I think Bethel still has potential that we didn't really get a chance to see in college. Considering all the health problems he had last year, I really wonder what he and Hodge could've done if he was healthy at the time.
