I know there are lots of other posts on this but im having trouble finding the answer...If i take a DE class over the summer will my total costs be $360 or will i have to pay extra tuition or extra fees or anything at all?

How much extra on top of regular tuition are DE classes during the semester? Im thinking about a class next fall, but Im not sure if it'll be worth it.

Sadly DE fees are 100% on top of regular semester fees, so if you take just ONE on-campus course and ONE DE class, you'll pay on-campus tuition for that 1 class and a seperate charge for the DE course. There's no "bundle deal" or anything like that. All DE courses are over & above your normal on-campus tuition charge.

So, is the chart saying its 108 per DE credit hour? As in I would have to pay an extra $324 on top of my regular tuition for just one 3 credit DE class?

i don't think you pay regular tuition if all you are taking is a DE class. im pretty sure they are separate. for example, if you took a 3 hour class on campus and a 3 hour DE class, you will pay for 3 hours regular tuition and fees and 3 hours DE tuition and fees

^^Yes. During the regular fall/spring semesters, if you want to take a DE class, the cost is additional to what you're already paying.

It's mainly to discourage students from taking DE classes that they could take in class.

I called and talked to a lady in the cashiers office about this today. My plan is to take 6 hours "in class" and then 6 hours DE. All fees included its 120 per hour for DE. So thats 720 for the DE classes. Then based on this past semester, tuition for 6 on campus hours was $1092. Based on a 5-10% increase in tuition ($50-100), those 6 hours for Fall '06 will be $1100-1200. So total, that's $1800-1900 for the semester. 12+ hours is $2184, so I'm actually saving money doing DE. So it's not always true that taking DE courses make tuition more expensive.

If you are taking DE courses, you do not pay for those hours in regular tuition and fees. its not an "extra" or an "on top of" situation. if you take 1 DE course and one on campus course, then you would pay for 3 hours DE, and three hours of on campus tuition and fees.

yes, in almost all situations, taking DE courses are cheaper than taking regular courses. whats really helpful is when you can max out your on campus hours for a particular tuition bracket, then take DE courses on top of that to be in full time.

Example: Take 11 on campus hours instead of 12. Instead of paying 2184 you pay 1638 (based on spring tuition). Then take a 1 hour DE course to be full time. Or take 6-8 hours on campus for 1092 and then take two 3 hour courses off campus and save around $350. Not that much but every little bit helps.

there is a difference between summer classes and spring / fall classes.

during the summer, on campus classes are $438 per credit hour and DE classes are $120 per credit hour.

during the spring / fall, on campus tuition is lumped into brackets, while DE classes are still billed as the $120 per credit hour.
