A single nuke, hell, a bunch of nukes, just don't have the energy necessary to move that much water. The vast majority of the bomb's energy will be wasted turning the water into steam and throwing it into the air.

A "pre-emptive" strike by North Korea is something that the United States and South Korea have been planning for during the last fifty three years. I don't think this will cause any change in current United States strategic or tactical planning.

That's because short of invading North Korea and burning Northeast Asia to the ground in the process, we really don't have any options left.

China is the big mystery with regards for North Korea. I don't think that they can completely reel them in; if they could, they certainly wouldn't have allowed North Korea to develop nuclear weapons less trigger a potential arms race with the Japanese. The more belligerent North Korea is, the more likely Japan will start bulking up militarily; the more Japan stockpiles weapons, the more nervous China and the rest of the region will get.

Hardly. The "Taiwan burnt to the ground" scenario is still very possible at this point. All they have to do is declare independence.

Economics has kept the peace in Eastern Asia, but the rabid nationalism that infects the region can easily cause these nations to discard money for the sake of saving face.

According to Table 1 on the page above, literally EVERYTHING in the cont. US is beyond the range of a NK threat. The only target within the international range standard is Alaska and that's at the outer edge.

From the same page, explaining why we really don't have anything to worry about at the moment:
