What everyone fails to mention is that Herb simply cannot beat UNC. Yes, herb has been impressive in the win column and that deserves recognition. How long do you think a UNC coach would keep his job if he went to the tournament every year but couldn't beat NCSU?

It is really fuckin' embarrassing to watch people bitch and moan about a 22-10 season. This is roughly the equivalent of Nebraska firing Frank Solich after a 9-3 season (if Herb is fired).

If Herb Sendek wasn't gone after going sub .500 a few years ago, he's not going to be let go after a 5th consecutive NCAA appearance, 4-1 in first round NCAA games, and a school start that rivaled the 1974 team in record. I'm sorry people, but you're making those of us with common sense look bad.

I am just as frustrated with the last six games as the rest of you, but 6 games does not a season make. Yes we can play better against UNC and Duke. Yes we can recruit better than UNC and Duke. BUT, it really hurts recruiting efforts and player confidence when they hear "fans" bitching and moaning about the coach....

the only quality win ive been a part of was like 2 years ago when we beat duke that was #1 and i think we werent ranked at the rbc...those good days are gone now...i havent been to a game all year.

Ha ha good one. Honestly now that I am not living in the Triangle anymore and I hear about our bitching, I am pretty embarrassed by our fans. I have friends here where I live that are like "WTF is up your fans wanting to fire your coach? You consistently make the tourny and that is better than 95% of the teams out there". huh??? no one can recruit better than UNC and Duke. that is why it is so hard to consistently compete with these teams year in and year out. BTW Herb Haters, we are not the only school that can't compete with them in the conf. every single year. No one does. Teams jump up for a year or two and compete (a la Maryland a few years back and Wake maybe last year) but it is almost impossible to do year in and year out nowadays. those teams just simply get more and better talent than everyone else (in the acc and the country).

It is not the WINS/LOSSES that people are frustrated about, and by the way a lot of those ACC games in the middle of the season could have gone the other way and we could have ended up 8-8, or 7-9 in the ACC

the fact is "THIS WAS THE YEAR"....the ACC was at a low, and we were returning 3 good seniors, and only losing Hodge, this was our time to make a run, all the planets were aligned and all we could muster was 4th in the ACC

couple this with bad losses to Seton Hall, a shitty performance against IOWA, and a total colapse at the end of the season, losing the last 4-5 games....and the fans have a RIGHT to be pissed

fuck anybody that will tell me I am a "bad fan" or "you can not understand how the fans feel" this jagoff probably considered wolfpack b-ball for 30 minutes this whole season, and now he is going to lay judgment on fans that have been dealing with herb for 10 years

fact is, herb is a great guy, adequate coach, good recruiter, and solid moral compass for this program, but with all of the new facilities/money/excitement around both football and basketball, fans expect more, and that is OK!!!

and sometimes it is just time for a change, unless you have a coack K, Dean Smith, Jim Calhoun type of guy, 10 years is a long stretch for a b-ball coach, the life has been sucked out of the program, less people are showing to games, and the people that do show are even less excited, we are constantly page 4 of the sports section, and we have fans that want to be page 1 material, you can not fault that

we need to find a Bruce Pearl type of guy, and get past stubborn ass herb that does not realize that we dont want to wath our team slow down and grind out 42-38 point wins, but would rather have an exciting style of play, and run a press....at least every once in a while!!

^^^We can. WE have a storied program just like Duke and UNC. We have chosen not to go after the biggest names in recruiting because they didn't fit our system. I garauntee you that if we went away from the Princeton-style offense and went with an inside-outside game we would get bigger recruits. Period.
