My DVD collection has overgrown its current location and I'm looking to find some sort of multimedia storage cabinet/rack that doesn't look like crap - any suggestions? My estimate is that I currently have about 150 DVDs/video games that I want to store in/on whatever I wind up buying, so it'll have to have room to grow. I'd prefer real wood - I'm not the biggest fan of particle board, but I suppose it may work in a last resort. I have no problem with spending some extra $$ on something that is of higher quality.

I've seen the selection at local electronic stores and haven't been all that impressed - most (if not all) of them have been particle board that I could just see being thrown out in a couple of years.

i bet http://www.ikea.com could have some interesting options (but they may fall apart if you move, but before you move, they'll look good)

I store my DVDs in a 5.5TB RAID 3 array.

Not really, but I wish I did.

I would spend some money and get an entertainment shelf. Basically a bookcase with shelves that are spaced specifically for dvd's and cd cases.

I made the mistake of getting those shitty dvd towers from best buy and my collection quickly outgrew the spaces available.

I have maybe 300 dvds and way more cds.

I recommend shelves. Lots and lots of shelves.

I have three Ikea Benno CD towers:http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15561&catalogId=10103&storeId=12&langId=-1&parentCats=15561*15641*15963&productId=11414

and three Ameriwood ones similar to this http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-9/qid=1142979905/ref=sr_1_9/602-1831232-9846248?%5Fencoding=UTF8&asin=B000ALD4SE

my fiance and i built a 7ft tall dvd shelving unit.... about 3 ft across, i think somewhere around 8 shelves. we have over 400 dvds/video games... didn't cost as much as buying one.
