Freaking scarey shit if they pull it off right.

Might be one of those things where its only scarey in one type of media format.

Silent Hill 1 & 3 were really good in my opinion.

I didn't follow the plot to 2 so well, and I never got far out of my bathroom in 4.

yeah 4 kinda sucked, they got rid of all the fundamentals like the flashlight and radio, there were only 2 guns, some enemies were invincible, you had to escort someone around half the game, and the list goes on

some parts were kinda creepy though

I hated I ever bought this game!! b/c it was sooo fuckin creepy and scary and I felt the need to finish once I started playing. Im not buying another one, but I will go see the movie. From the looks of the trailer, these guys might pull it off. So far so good.

I'm going to check this movie out tonight. The trailer does not give me high hopes for this movie, however, I loved the games and I love real horror monster make up.

Oh man, watch the clips, its freaking great

and

Quote :
" In researching the different elements of Silent Hill, screenwriter Roger Avary (Killing Zoe, The Rules of Attraction) came across the town of Centralia, Pennsylvania (it's interesting that LA moviemakers look to the deep Midwest when they're looking for something "strange" or "different"). Centralia planted the seed for what developed into the cinematic version of the town of Silent Hill.

As recently as 1981, there were over 1,000 residents living in Centralia, although the population has now dwindled to 11 (we'll say that again: 11 people) as a result of a 40-year mine fire burning beneath the borough (we'll say that again: it's been burning for 40 years... underneath the town). This is certainly not unlike Silent Hill, which was left deserted since devastating coal fires ravaged the town and its people.

The inferno started when a trash fire was lit in an abandoned mine pit in Centralia in 1962. The fire ignited an exposed vein of coal and spread throughout the mines beneath the borough. Several attempts have been made and millions of dollars have been spent unsuccessfully to extinguish this fire that still burns today.

The "problem" wasn't really acknowledged until a series of accidents in the '70s and '80s, including the appearances of sinkholes hundreds of feet deep. In 1984, Congress allocated more than $40 million for relocation efforts, and most residents moved to nearby Mount Carmel and Ashland.

However, a very few families opted to stay, and they're still there, despite the fact that the state of Pennsylvania has condemned all the buildings in the borough and the US Postal Service has revoked its zip code of 17927. The 11 holdouts include the town's 89-year-old mayor, Lamar Mervine, who refuses to leave because "I like it here." "

i didnt think it was that bad. it was a bit long for its style of movie (usually you suspect action, horror, or action-horrors to be 90mins). im into the visual aspects of movies though and let that make up for most other deficiencies (i mean after all you are watching them right).

it wasnt the best ive ever seen, but it was done well in my opinion. having the actors in latex really helped cuz i was thinking this movie would suck CG balls until i heard about that.

as others online have said, it isnt all that scary, but it was good enough to keep me interested.

id liken it to The Cell.

pretty and decently interesting. plot is kinda interesting, but you can find problems with it. acting is decent but wont win oscars. not overly scary, but as said, has a lot of "oh shit" moments.

admittedly the cell was a lil more visual and scary, but its not a bad comparison in my eyes.

I must say that "Silent Hill" is the best video game adaptation ever, hands down.

I think that it was trying to accomplish more than being a horror/suspense/thriller film. There are some themes--purity, sacrifice, motherhood, religion--that went along with the horror.

All in all, (not kidding) the best movie I've seen this year so far.

P.S. Pyramid head--woah

badass movie

the dialogue was a little goofy at times, and that little girl acted better at being evil than a little girl, haha.

the visuals were really well done, especially the way everything transformed in the darkness

pyramid head tore epic amounts of ass, that guy's my hero

those weird ass noises are directly from the games too, pretty cool touch.

ha, i like that. Both actualy. For me the pyramid head parts were very ooooooooooooh shit! Also from what ive read the director said the ending was left open for a sort of sequal. He said that if the true silent hill fans are pleased with the movie then he will strongly consider doing another.
