so here's the problem
last summer i took over a lease from another dude
i'm pretty sure he got his security deposit back when he moved out
before i moved in the room was not inspected by the apartment people and i never paid a security deposit
so what happens when i move out in august
i've read my lease over and over and i can't find anything that mentions this type of situation, only that they can take money out of a security deposit to fix damages
seems to me like i get to screw them, but maybe i'm missing something 3/21/2006 7:47:29 PM |

Read the lease you signed. It should specify how much of a security deposit you were required, what they are/aren't allowed to do with that deposit, and how additional damage assessments beyond the deposit will be handled. 3/21/2006 7:59:45 PM |

just b/c you don't have a security deposit, doesn't mean you can trash the place and not pay. Trust me, they will send you a bill for the repairs. And most companies won't mind turning you over to someone trying to get that money back. Could screw up your credit and if you go to rent again, it could keep you from getting an apartment.
clean the place up and deal with it.... 3/21/2006 11:20:07 PM |
