I can't do this right now b/c I'm busy but I'll give you some of my knowledge later. About a year ago I went through all the places you could possibly think of before deciding I couldn't afford grad school up there... Plus my Mom is from there and I know the area real well..
Anything inside 128 should be close enough for starters..
** One thing though, will you have a car or rely on transit?

never lived there but I go there a lot. I have a frind who lives on Park Dr. right near Fenway. The area is nice but the apartment was old as hell. Another friend lives up in Cambridge a little way like 15min to downtown same price around $1500 but a hell of better place and it's near a T stop. Not really sure about the area but it didn't look too bad.
Another friend lived right near Newbury St., on Commonwealth *I think*. I liked his place the best but I assume it's pretty expensive--just looked that way.
I can say you probably don't want to live in Roxbury.

\/ Back Bay. That's the name of the neighborhood where my friend on Park Drive and the one near Newbury lives. I like that area.

I'm most likely moving there as well this summer. I'm currently looking at Beacon Hill, Back Bay near Copley (where I'll be working), and Cambridge areas. For me it's pretty much access to transit or walking distance as I really don't plan on driving much at all.
I guess the key question is how much will you be making? I'm going in with a $1500 to $2000 range on living arrangements. 3/22/2006 2:57:33 PM |

My best friend lives in south boston, on the red line near the T stop "Broadway." There are some projects in southie but her apartment is VERY nice, 4BD/1 BA for $1000/month. Basically anywhere close to a T stop is going to be essential, because it's really easy to get anywhere. 3/22/2006 4:37:04 PM |

if you're travelling by car, near Rt. 128 is the way to go. Don't bother living in Southie or anything with a car...just too expensive. I'd personally highly reccommend Davis Square...it's technically in Somerville, but it's up-and-coming and basically just like Harvard Square. There is ALWAYS something to do...(and go to REDBONES!! YOU MUST!!) 3/22/2006 5:37:06 PM |
