Outside of being able to dunk he has shown me NOTHING this year. He'll be good but only because they will have shit else to turn to..

He may go pro as I've read for some reason he is projected Top 7..

^ not really. They have been talking about that since like January. I've mentioned it quite a few times.

He hasn't impressed me one bit. He's not terribly athletic, hasn't shot well, can't D up one on one (nearly all his blocks were help D after Shelden gets beat), and can't shoot a lick. He dunks and dribbles behind his back every so often.

He has potential but certainly not enough IMO to go Top 10 at this point.. I could be wrong but I just don't see it..

i'm suprised they don't have him going to the bulls

seems like they're trying to create duke 2.0 in chicago

i've seen some nba mock drafts that are projecting he may leave.

but i can only see that with a nat. championship since duke was expecting it. too bad the senior jj let him down.

seriously though, he probably won't leave just cause next year he would have his time to shine without the landlord stealing his spotlight...

but the kid would get drafted pretty high if he left.

I don't see how anyone can say he's not athletic. I think he's VERY athletic for a guy his size. He's a fucking freshman and can hold his own with just about anyone. He'll be a decent pro.

Comparison sake. He isn't NEARLY as athletic as the other guys who will be drafted on POTENTIAL. Come on, he is 6'10"... he can do some sick dunks but that doesn't make him all that athletic. You can't tell me you think he is honestly quick, can you?

He is NO WHERE NEAR as athletic is a Rudy Gay type. I'm not saying the guy is an oaf but he is NOT the most athletic guy out there.. not by a long shot.

With the track record that Duke has developing big men (elton brand not withstanding) he might be better served to learn on the fly in the NBA...

^dude, I don't know who you've been watching, but for a 6'10" big man, he is pretty damn quick. do you not see him get out and run the floor? not to mention he's what, like 18? He'll be good.

He will be good, I have no doubt. I just don't think he athletic enough for a team to draft him in the lottery as of now. Nothing against the kid but I'm not impressed by a kid dunking the ball a few times and dribbling behind his back.

I understand he played out of position a bit facing the basket this year w/ Shelden down low but he NEEDS more time in college.

Just my opinion.. I've been wrong plenty of times before.

he's athletic for a white guy, but guys like gay, terry, and carney are all much more athletic AND skilled. if he stayed around i could see him becoming a more athletic version of pittsnogle, but he won't.

He made a couple careless mistakes in the last minutes that cost Duke. The one foul under their basket for no apparent resason and then he dribbled the ball from one end of the court straight out of bounds on the other side. I haven't really been following Duke so all I saw was the last 5 minutes of the game and those 2 mistakes though.

that is like the worst comparison..they are two entirely different players.....pittsnoggle lives on the 3 pt line and only shoots....mcrobots has more of a way better inside game and no 3 pt shot.

yeah compare pittsnogle to melvin (onyl way smarter and less goofy)

he and mcBobs are two different players
(you wont see pittsnogle win a dunk contest either)

the same site (nbadraft.net) has Ced going #7 in 2007, and doesn't take into consideration high school players leaving early, so this info is a bit skewed.

i dont really care about duke

but i love mcroberts...given the room to shine next year, he is going to be sensational...he can really run the court

but i really wanted to reply because that is a phenomenal picture that syrup posted (for artistic purposes, not for duke bashing purposes)

this guy has no position in college, let alone the pros

if he showed any kind of post presence this year then maybe you could say he could be a kevin garnett type player but as it stands now he's a more athletic shavlik randolph

That picture is great. For some reason it reminds me of the movie Garden State.

Shavlik Randolph was nowhere near as bad as he seemed at Duke. As you can see, if you have seen the NBA any, Shav has been doing better in the NBA against pro competition than he did in college. I think it has to to with K and the way he handles versitile big men like Shav and McRoberts.

If K plays McRoberts like he did Shav, then I expect him to suck almost as bad.

I think that McRoberts can be sort of a cross between Amare Stoudamire and Dirk Nowitzki. Of course he is not nearly as good as either, and isn't likely to become that good, that is just the impression I get while watching him.

his position in the pros would be a 3/4 combo player...

i like the comparison to garnett except not nearly as good, or as good a rebounder

once he gets a handle on some of those passes he throws and hones his shot from three, watch out

Mcroberts will receive a lot of attention next year from defenders with Redick and Williams gone. He'll wish JJ was back, I don't think SheWill's departure will hurt him as much as JJ's, because JJ drew at least one defneder outside of the perimeter on EVERY possession. He's not a center, too soft right now, but if he develops a consistent 3 ball, and puts on 12-15 pounds in the weightroom without affecting his athleticism, I like his chances at 2nd team all american next year and a no brainer for all ACC. Wouldn't draft him in the first round this year though if I were an NBA GM, but they draft off potential anyway, so maybe I would.

He's played a lot of point guard actually (not in college though)...his court vision and passing skills REALLY impressed me and for a 6'10" white guy he IS athletic. I don't think he'll go pro though considering he will have all of the spotlight on him next year and a great passing PG in Paulus.

I somewhat agree though because he didn't really get a chance to show his stuff playing behind Shelden, but based on his ACC and NCAA Tourney games I think he is the real deal. He is not Shavlik Randolph or Chris Burgess (similar Duke white guys touted to be the next big thing)...I think he'll be fun to watch next year if he stays at Duke.
