i assume ur using a windows OS. open windows movie maker found under start > programs > accessories. from there browse to ur main movie file and select it to open. depending on the size, it may take a bit of time for it to fully load up. as it loads it will create multiple automatic clips. just browse to the scene u want and drag and drop the scenes to the bottom. there is a preview window to the side so u can use that to check ur output. once happy with it, go the tasks and choose to save it with whatever settings and size u wish. 3/25/2006 10:57:22 PM |

oooooo. what dvd is it? cause u might be able to search the net (limewire or bittorrent) for that exact scene in a different format. otherwise u wont be able to use movie maker. i thought it was gonna be like an .avi or .mpg file which WMM would be perfect for. 3/25/2006 11:28:34 PM |

You have many options.
THe easiest I think would be to just play the scenes and use a video-screen-capture app to save the video.
Otherwise, I am pretty sure you can use VLC (search on Google for it) to dump the video out as an MPEG-1 file or something as it plays back. 3/25/2006 11:35:59 PM |

Lets you play the video back, and record it to an editable/presentation software friendly format. 3/26/2006 12:29:31 AM |

Try playing it with VLC:

Or search online on how to take screen captures of a DVD (basically, it involves turning off hardware decoding). 3/26/2006 3:23:59 AM |

you don't want to play videos in powerpoint
are the DVDs encrypted or protected? big-label hollywood stuff or personal home videos?

1. use smartripper to dump dvd -> mpeg 2. use adobe premier to crop out the scene you want 3. (optionally) use flask mpeg to compress it so it is not a massive file 3/26/2006 11:23:24 AM |
