"A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in this Stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing adapters.

Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Starting Options, and then select Safe Mode.

i recently downloaded some files for a game, and now the program quits to this? what? this is the second time today...

25 G free on that drive...

no driver indicated in the stop message

driver updates for the video card? (the adapter?) or the motherboard?

bios updates for the mb, eh? i don't know what shadowing or caching does, why would i enable them in the firsrt place in the bios?

very annoying if i can't run my favorite game without it bringing down the system when it exits...

I had this problem. I narrowed it down to the vid card and tried DLing new drivers to no avail. i ended up switching out the vid card, though, and the problem went away.

i don't know if that helps you.

Good luck though

P.S. i think it's a windows thing specifically, i.e. not the hardware, cause when I ran FC4 I never had any problems with video.

i do have more ram installed than the mb can handle, but the system hasn't crashed like this before and it's been set-up like that for a couple of years now...
