This had nothing to do with promoting study abroad and everything to do with bragging about a trip. 3/27/2006 1:01:01 PM |

I don't get why people are stuck on the need to finish in 4 years.
If your only reason not to study abroad is because you're "behind" then you're buying into some bullshit. You'll never be able to study abroad once you graduate. 3/27/2006 2:13:14 PM |

Being behind isn't the only reason; lack of $Texas is also a factor.
Honestly, after a full year of working, would you then want to take off another semester to go study abroad? I mean, I'd like to graduate at some point before the turn of the decade. 3/27/2006 2:27:38 PM |

I mean yeah I'm proud that I went, and that's cool for me, but it does nothing for the NCSU community if I don't tell people what an awesome time I had and encourage them to go.

Well lucky you. I'm poor, and if it weren't for the Organization fro Troipcal Studies, I would have never gotten to go to Costa Rica OR South Africa, and I'm greatly thankful for that. It's not always about rich/poor though, there's money out there to do this shit, you just have to find it.3/27/2006 4:15:25 PM |

I'm with RattlerRyan and BobbyDigital on this one. Show off, tell the world, inspire others, show them things they might not be able to see and inspire them to see it. and yes, there is no "behind" after highschool. The only "behind" is the one you might be sitting on when you could moving and groving somewhere overseas. There is scholarship and financial aid money for going abroad too. 3/27/2006 5:45:22 PM |

you need to do your research! there's practically money everywhere for study abroad. every year the study abroad program at nc state gets a pretty good amount of money to pay for students, but since only a few people do it, they have money left over.
you're probably just scared to leave the country.3/27/2006 7:06:35 PM |

^ I have several friends that have been turned down for the $500 study abroad scholarship. I don't know what you need to get it but as far as I have heard it is extremely hard to get any financial help from NCSU unless your GPA is a 4.0. 3/27/2006 7:35:39 PM |
