Quote : | "NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J (1010 WINS) -- Slow and steady, and poor gas mileage, ruled the day when North Brunswick police captured a speeding Lamborghini.
An officer gave chase after clocking the 2006 V-Ten Gallardo going 85 MPH on Route One yesterday.
The sports car pulled away as the officer's Ford Crown Victoria patrol car reached 100 MPH. That's when the officer broke off the chase and broadcast a description of the car with Massachusetts license plates.
Police pounced when the driver of the $175,000 sports car made a pit stop to buy gasoline in Edison seven minutes later.
Gianluca Siciliano is held on $10,000 bail, charged with eluding police. The 38-year-old is from Italy." |

Personally, if you run from the cops in a fast car, perhaps you should make sure that the car that you are driving has a higher production rate then a few thousand a year... (I don't personally know the lambo production rates but assuming) 3/29/2006 10:29:06 PM |

the police are now joyriding in his car. it'll have 2000000 more miles and no tires on it when he gets it back. 3/31/2006 11:03:37 AM |

Personally, I think both the words in that story AND this thread title (based on the story) are extremely misleading.
There is no indication of how long this "chase" took place. The way I read it, the guy went buy at 85mph, cop catches up to him, guy pulls away, and 7 minutes later he is pulling over for gas.
That doesn't read anything like bad gas mileage at all. That reads like the guy was unlucky that he got clocked and contemplated a run while being low on gas.
What an irresponsible and sensational article. Don't buy into the spin folks. 3/31/2006 11:58:51 AM |
