I need to take BIO 181 next semester and the only section I can take because of my work schedule has only restricted seats left for freshman and sophomores. Do I have any chance of getting into this, and who should I talk to?

Your advisor will be able to help your best.

If that doesn't work out, just show up to the class the first couple of days and KEEP watching for drops in the courses nonstop. If this is for fall semester, you have 4+ months to watch for drops.

i know is business, if a student is absent from the first 2 days of class they are dropped from the schedule and you then proceed to fill out a green form and they give you that persons seat

You're advisor can't do crap. Talk to the professor and the secretary for the department that the class is offered under. Be very nice and explain your situation and they will most likely help you out.

i'd take care of it as soon as possible, those classes are always packed and people seem to rarely drop them.

You can talk to the coordinator of advising for the department- Dr. Bill Grant and he should be able to help you as folks have mentioned.

Keep in mind that the seats are being restricted in many cases because of the large number of new FR and TR that will need it in the Fall. If for some reason, they cannot put you in the class now, this enrollment will go up and down all summer. Students will be registered for it, and many will bring AP credit with them from high school. They then drop the class. Most folks who need it can get to before having to beg for a seat the first week of class, given the amount of dropping and adding throughout the summer.
