If you're interested in a great, flexible job on campus and have decent technical skills, please apply to work with Information Technology!

The application is online at:
http://www.ncsu.edu/it/ptjobs/

If you have any questions, let me know.

The funniest thing is people actually GET virii.

There's 3 primary ways to get one, and if you avoid all 3, you'll rarely ever have a problem:

1) Using AIM/accepting files though it
2) d/loading and running random attachments to emails
3) going to porn sites you aren't 100% don't install spyware/virii

Therein lies the problem. Getting folks to give up ONE of those, let alone all 3, is why idiots get virii. I refuse to install a resource-hogging "anti-virus" software program on my machine; I've lived 21 years w/o it and have never had one single virus.

Those are all great ways to get a virus. Another MAJOR way is getting online with an unpatched Windows machine. If you put an unpatched machine online it can become so screwed up it needs to be formatted within no time. So then you get your friend who "majors in computers" to format it for you with their "warez" copy of Pre-SP1 XP. But apparently the "computer major" hasn't taken the course on Windows Update yet and definetely doesn't know to have them all on a thumb drive so you can install them before getting on the network. They'll definetely help you get Limewire though so you can download m1cro$oft_word.exe.

Sorry, small rant there . In other words patch your shit and make sure your friends do the same.

Now back to the topic of working for ITD .

Without any software to detect it, you'd never know with some of them... Even if you refuse to instal one that constantly runs in the background, it isn't a bad idea to run a scan every now and again

Challenge fully accepted. Please understand I have never, ever had AIM or any "chat" software whatsoever installed on my PCs either.

It's truly NOT difficult to avoid virii.

Pubically post your IP address if you really feel your computer is that secure / won't get infected by a virus.

Couple of full-time positions still open if anybody is looking for full-time job after graduation. Not the best paying for a CSC grad ... but if you can earn a Masters degree cheap* if you work for NC State.

*Cheap as in free.

i like that i'm just a "someone."

if you applied for a job but are graduating in december, you probably won't hear from us. we invest too much in training to hire people that are guaranteed not to be around for long. sorry.

you could have asked.

and it's not a blanket policy, so it's not something we'd put on the app. it all depends on when we hire and what we need.
