The Inter-Residence Council is holding a program... you can pick up virgin mixed drinks / sodas / water and snacks down at the Bragaw Activity Room. Ends at 1am this morning... the closing is something to see, so stop by if you're around West Campus.
If you don't want to stick around, grab a bite to eat and run. No one will keep you there.
Oh, and there's karaoke too. 3/31/2006 11:42:15 PM |

Would’ve received more attention in chit chat
it was nice though, far more believable than anything else I expect to see. i guess the lounge did add to that feel.

It really wasn't a joke.
Tonight we really held an alcohol awareness program (of course non-traditional). And no joke about the free snacks and virgin mixed drinks... we bought the supplies and rented the equipment to do about ten or so different types of drinks... so it wasn’t the normal RA-style mock-tails event. The supplies alone filled a large crate and a full-size fridge (we literally brought in a refrigerator with us... IRC doesn’t skimp on programs), the sodas and others filled another two large crates.
But the April Fools part was worked into the actual program. Those in IRC put on a few skits throughout the night dealing with alcohol and sexual awareness issues (it was kept light... about one an hour to keep it more of a leisure/social event instead of falling down the same slope most awareness programs go). In one skit we had a guy end up passing out... the acting was great and everyone kept in character. People from what I've heard left the BAR shocked because they took as if it seriously happened. To finish it we had an AD for Housing who was also an EMS pull up an ambulance right to the door of Bragaw with the lights on. The timing and tension was perfect and no one knew in the room what was really going on. However the rest of the skits were shorter and a bit cheesy... but all had a good degree of humor to them.
We really didn’t care if you stayed or just passed through... most people got their drinks, stayed for 10-20 minutes, danced, played cards or watched those doing karaoke for a bit then left. Attendance wasn’t bad, especially for a Friday although we could have fed a LOT more (IRC does programs every day this week so there wasn’t a choice of days). I don’t think it would have been worth driving into campus for, but was worth a walk from the West Campus and Central Campus area.
Anyone who missed this one is welcome to come to the Pajama Formal at Talley, Saturday April 1 from 10pm-1am. How that event will go will be interesting... I haven't been involved in the planning for any of the events this week so I don't know many details, but I do know if you show up there will be food and drinks of some sort. 4/1/2006 2:59:14 AM |

I guess "virgin mixed drink" means "waste of fucking time" 4/1/2006 3:03:04 AM |

^ Nah, some were pretty good. We used fresh fruit to make them. What was a waste of time was the virgin jello shots... why one would want to eat those, I don't know. Unless you really like straight jello for some reason. 4/1/2006 3:07:49 AM |
