i have an amd x2 3800+ w/ MSI K8N Neo2-F nforce3 Ultra board and i love it... i upgraded from a 3000+ and i notice a big difference in general performance having two cores to seperate the work, a LOT less slowdowns loading apps, and quicker response times switching apps, the cpu's a beast. i'll probably hold on to them until i'm forced to upgrade to AM2, though i would highly recommend the Neo4 boards if you are getting/have a new pci-e card, the MSI works great with Corsair memory

I got my x2 3800+ today. Waiting on vid card, HD's and CPU cooler to bring the beast to life.

3800+ is up and running right now. I've go tthe Zalman 9500 PCLEd cooler, right now, idle temps are 32 deg C

The x2 3800+ is really good processor and you'll notice a difference if you run multiple applications at once. More multi-threaded programs should start coming out in the next few years so I don't think you can go wrong with dual core. The board all depends what you want from it. If you want to overclock I would recommend DFI or ASUS. If you are just looking for stability, MSI and Abit boards are good as well. Good Luck.
