I think that Roy is probably a little uneasy about this possibility of Barnes. I have a feeling that Roy doesn't want us to find a high-profile guy because he feels like it would put us at a higher level and help us compete in the near future. I think although he never would admit it the fact that Barnes hates Carolina and his role model Dean could eventually come close to leveling the playing field and he is hoping and praying that we end up getting Mike Haith or someo other up and comig and that our success is delayed.

I think K is happy about the idea of us getting a high profile and trying to level the playing field. I dont think he shares the same level of hatred of NC State that Roy does and I feel like he will welcome the challenge of competing against Barnes or Calipari instead of a Haith or Crean.

What has Barnes won? On top of that Roy is getting some of the best consecutive recruiting classes in the history of the game.. If I were K I'd be a bit more worried because his teams are not nearly as athletic as Roy's and it shows in the tourney and head to head with UNC... certainly NOT worried about the NCSU coaching search

I think just about everyone realize that those guys would win big every year if we had Phil Jackson coaching here.

But don't think they aren't keenly interested in what transpires here. Herb was their whipping boy, with him NC State was a minor annoyance.

Under, say, Rick Barnes, NC State becomes a more immediate threat - Like Maryland was a few years ago.

Just think about how satisfying it will be if we get Barnes and interrupt the UNC-Duke-ESPN circle jerk.

The guys who are REALLY sweating this hire are Prosser, Gary Williams, etc. who can't afford to see another top 10 caliber program in the league. Look at the Maryland boards - these people are not happy to see Herb leave and will be pissed if we get Barnes or someone of that caliber.

I was six rows from that incident 11 years ago in Greensboro. Bout the funniest thing I'd ever seen. Not sure if it was true that Dean was yelling at Clemson players to stop fouling so hard, but Cantread Wallace got undercut on an ally oop and it was obvious, I'd have been upset too. Smackmouth was getting hammered once the game's outcome was decided as well, Deano and Walmart nation had a right to be upset, which is why I know Barnes will bring the passion, and hopefully the ability. Barnes also received 2 technical fouls/ejection in the regular season matchup in Littlejohn, that's where the Greensboro incident sparked, and I'm not sure why people don't point that out to when referencing Barnes' passion for tobacco road.
