I'm stating to get local doctors and I was wondering if anyone had a doctor they would recommend for thyroid disorders.

Also gals recommendation for a gyno...doesn't matter if it's male or female, i've been going to a male gyno.

thanks

Raleigh Endocrine Associates is a very good group for the thyroid. Dr. Black is the one I see, but I understand they are all good.

yep! bloodwork is the main thing...but as far as physical exam for it they might look at your neck too/put a light up to it and ask you to swallow to see if it's enlarged visibly. check your hands to see if you're really shaky. ask you some questions about your mood, bowel movements, how you sleep at night, weight loss or gain, temperature (always hot vs always cold) etc

They could also do a thyroid scan, which is a nuclear medicine test. You take radioactive pill, and they scan your legs to test the rate at which the thyroid uptakes the chemical in the pill. And/or they do a scan that creates a visual image of the thyroid. Neither is bad, but it may be a little more than bloodwork.

not sure where in Raleigh you're located, but there is a plethora of OB/GYN offices at the Rex Hospital complex, including where I go, Capital Area OB/GYN (Lisa Christianson is my doctor, but there are quite a few other doctors who operate out of that office and the cary office).

Yeah, my bloodwork came back way off the charts, and my symptoms were pretty bad, so I got the extra tests. They haven't had to remove my thyroid yet, so so far so good.

Raleigh Endocrine Assoc. is good, I have Dr. Stall and I like him. I have Grave's Disease, a hyperthyroid disease, and back in 2003, I had to take a radioactive pill to shrink it, but it didn't work so I had surgery to cut some out. Since they took TOO much, I now have hypothyroidism for the rest of my life

That's what I am trying to avoid. I have Grave's too. I would rather take pills for the rest of my life to try to slow it down than take pills to replace its function.

i just went to the eye doctors next to lens crafters at cary towne center. you can get same day/next day appointments and they have great hours. My appointment took all of 30 mins from check in to check out and you walk next door to get your glasses.

Dr. Catherine Dingman at Woman Care of Raleigh is a good Gyno. She actually called me at home to answer a message that I left. Most doctors don't call you at home!
