My neighbor tried to help me sometime back import some old stuff into outlook when I got a new computer and in the process moved something from my address book/contacts/ldap directory to somewhere else on my computer and forgot to put it back. Now anytime I try and use someone's contact name in the To... section or I try and click on the book beside "To..." in composing an email address it freezes for a second then says "cannot contact ldap directory (81)"
If I click on "contacts" i can see everyone in there but I can use it in composing email, distribution lists, etc. Does anyone know a: how to find this missing file on my computer (i don't know the file extension to search for) or how to fix it so that way the contacts will start working the way it's supposed to again?
Thanks!!! (lemme know if I didn't explain any part well enough to get a solution) 4/5/2006 3:47:54 PM |

you read thru this stuff? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&rls=SUNA%2CSUNA%3A2006-02%2CSUNA%3Aen&q=%22cannot+contact+ldap+directory%22+%2B+Outlook
and outlook files are .pst search for all .pst files on your pc, look at the modified date (view-details) and look for ones that haven't been modified lately.

For whatever reason I cannot find any outlook files using search. It's been so long since I've messed with this I've completely forgotten most of what I knew. I have tried searching for files with .pst in the name, with no luck. I also have tried just searching for all of a specific file type but under the drop down menu there is nothing really for outlook specifically. 4/5/2006 4:08:37 PM |

used this site to "fix" the problem, I didn't do it 100% correctly but I just deleted the LDAP directory and the Outlook one and made the "contacts" folder using File-Folder-Properties the source for contact info
