Seems like it would be handy, but it's not that hard to take out a drain plug. 4/5/2006 10:58:31 PM |

~$25 dispersed amongst multiple oil changes makes it a pretty cheap item - the point is easy & clean4/5/2006 11:00:18 PM |

had one of those "quick change" valves on my old mustang. its like a cap that you unscrew, and when you put the drain "line" on it, it pushes the cover up and lets the oil flow. was pretty cheap, about 16 bucks, (but this was like 3-4 years ago..)
made changing the oil alot quicker, but didnt get to use it too long 4/5/2006 11:01:47 PM |

only place i could see it worth it is for drag racers that change their oil a lot in the parking lot at the strip. 4/6/2006 12:07:28 AM |

looks like it may fail from engine vibration. I saw a better one at autozone that has a quick disconnect hose. 4/6/2006 6:37:06 AM |

I can't get to the site, but I'm assuming it's like the ones I've bought. I think mine is made by K&N and you can get them at Autozone for about $16. It's pretty much built so that if it failed it would fail closed and not leak oil.
I wouldn't recommend it on most cars with the drain plug on the very bottom of the oil pan because it sticks out pretty far. It seems like it could be the lowest point on the car and end up getting ripped off. 4/6/2006 10:32:14 AM |

it's ok if you are really lazy. you leave a bit of old oil in the pan though, so it sort of defeats the purpose. 4/6/2006 5:31:33 PM |

i think a well placed stone could drain your oil while you're going down the road. 4/6/2006 7:59:28 PM |
