if anyone out there can work on subs, i will pay a little for some help. Had this system in a 99 firebird for about 4 years.. its a badass box and i want to get it fixed so i can sell it.
One sub is not working and it is causing both 12 in subs to fuck up. 4/6/2006 12:19:58 AM |

take it out hook up a multimeter and see if it shows same impedance as what your sub is rated at. if it does, the problem is with the wiring or the amp and not the sub 4/6/2006 12:26:30 PM |

Take the speaker out yourself
Get a C or a D battery
Connect one terminal to one end of the battery (with wire obviously)
And take a peice of wire to the other terminal of the battery and tap it. If you hear the speaker clicking or see the cone moving, then you know the voice coil isn't blown up/shorted, etc.
If nothing happens, its dead. 4/6/2006 12:28:04 PM |

Also, be sure to look on the back side of the terminals, where the bright silver leads take the juice from the terminal down into the voice coil. A buddy of mine gave me a 15w3 saying it was dead and I could have it. I get it home and notice that both wires had come lose from the terminal. I soldered them back together and it at least plays a little. I haven't had it in a box yet to see if anything else is wrong with it (playing it at high excursion probably tore them in the first place). 4/6/2006 12:35:40 PM |
