Quick synopsis from this morning:
- The Senate had a bad enforcement-only immigration bill passed by the House up for consideration.
- The GOP moderates tried to amend the bill to include a guest worker program. Democrats promised to filibuster the proposed amendments, so the changes were effectively blocked.
- So then the GOP said it would filibuster the whole bill until the amendments were added.4/6/2006 4:31:43 PM |

Why'd the Dems promise to filibuster? I know it was to cause the GOP to fight amongst itself, but what reason did the Dems give? 4/6/2006 4:44:10 PM |

oh this is some shit
bush is now blaming the democrats for the fall-apart of the immigration bill
but this part is i guess - overlooked Quote : | "After bewildering political maneuvering, a key vote produced only 38 senators, all Democrats, in support -- 22 short of the 60 needed" |
