A) We can pony up the $$$.

B) First rate facilities including a historical gym and an NBA style stadium.

C) One of the most rabid basketball fanbases in the country. You think we're fired up and act crazy now...imagine if we were actually good one year.

D) History and tradition. State doesn't have the most, but it has more than 95% other colleges.

E) ACC. ACC school means most televised games, biggest media and commercial deals, hotbed of college basketball.

F) North Carolina. Center of the college bball world. Great weather. East Coast.

No doubt. If I lived in the area then I would be too. However, during that era (I'm assuming you mean Valvano) we were only 6-18 vs UNC. Herb was 5-17...

We haven't consistently beaten UNC since the 60's.. I'm not saying we can't do it again but it will be hard...

Herb beat UNC once in 8 of his years here then, and swept them 2 years in a row. If you ask me, thats a lot of time to go without beating UNC, and they had some of the worst teams they've ever had when we swept them. Now, they're not even that good, and we got blown out of the water AT HOME by them, and we havent beaten them in 3 years. Thats what people notice.


Not that I wanted herb gone because he couldnt beat UNC, but this is what pissed people off.

its funny, I was at all of the home games this year....

and I feel Herb's worst game wasnt the UNC game, it was the BC game.

6 timeouts, 3 turnovers, 0 points.

Thats when I was fully convinced that Herb's days here may be numbered.

I have never, ever seen fans as rabid as they were leaving that game....

...except a few years ago when T.A. fumbled the game away against Maryland....boy, they were pissed then too!

The Carolina game made the BC game look that much worse though.


It was a lack of effort and inability to shoot the 3 that killed us against UNC, and Herb should have been able to fire his kids up for the biggest game of the year.



The BC game was just bad in game coaching, and Evtimov only shooting when he was guarded, and passing on open shots at the end.

which are always memorable

for that BC game i left my heart and a couple of vocal chords in that arena. that was one of the most amped games of the year. me and the people around me were jumping every time BC came back down the floor. i got light headed from jumping and yelling so much.
