Does anyone have any experience with this guitar or one similar to it? I'm looking to finally upgrade from my Squire Strat after years of play and don't want to cheap out, but don't wan't to spend a small fortune either. I play hard rock and some alternative. I'm also looking for an excellent half stack / effects footswitch combo to go with it so any opinions would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

their reviews are usually on point, but remember to take everything with a grain of salt. also, be sure you actually play the guitar somewhere before you actually buy it. Musicians Friend is actually part of Guitar Center, so you could probably find that guitar there and try it out first. If you know what you're doing, you could easily haggle the price down.

Thanks for the input. Ya, i checked it out on MF online but didn't know if any Guitar Centers locally carried it, i'll have to call them. I was also looking at the Line6 PODXT Live pedal. Hopefully I can find a place to try them both out. Def wouldn't buy a guitar without trying it first. Didn't know if anyone on TWW had first-hand experience playing this.

i bought a Bass PODXT Live on Valentines Day, and i am VERY happy with it. The effects are great, and the amp models sound amazing...the Acoustic 360 model sounds exactly like my own Acoustic amp, and the GK 800RB is pretty awesome too.

Awesome, that's good to hear. I just can't see a downside to haveing that many affects right at your feet. Looks like i'll have to adjust the action quite a bit on the Schecter and maybe get some professional work done on it to get the sound right from what i'm reading.

if you do get it, one thing i would definitely do is replace those emg h pickups. unless all you want to do is play metal.

Cliche, and a bit middle of the road maybe, but great pickups and not too expensive. Over the years I have come to dislike humbuckers, and have switched to all single coils (mostly P-90s) except for one guitar. That guitar is an SG that is totally stripped...all that's left is a volume knob, a kill switch, and a JB in the bridge.

I have never played that model, but I had a cheaper model, the omen 6. I liked it, so I upgraded to a Schecter C-1 classic and I'm pretty happy with it. You can definitely tell the difference with the Duncan pickups compared to the cheaper pickups in the Omen 6. Definitely play one before you buy though, like previously posted, Guitar Center probably has one.

duncans are definitely a good choice. I have a similar setup except i have a duncan '59 at the neck and a duncan distortion at the bridge. i also put in a coil tap.

another good thing about duncans is that you can go to the website and hear the different pickups. it even customizes them to what type of guitar and setup you have.

^^^ The C-1 is a great guitar, I would've gotten one if I saved up the money.

I ended up getting an Epiphone SG and I'm pretty happy with it.
