i just got pulled over right in front of my apartment.

the policeman clocked me doing 12 over. he then said my car registration had expired this month seven days ago (great), and then he asked where i lived. being right in front of my apartment, i pointed at it and said "right here.", hoping he'd give me some leeway. he said that that wasn't what my driver's license said (it has my home address in greensboro) and gave me a ticket for that. i told him that i am at that house quite a lot (over the summer, on breaks, etc.) but he said wherever i get my mail is what my license should say.

i know if i bring updated registration i can get that dropped, but if i bring an updated driver's license with my apartment address, or a piece of mail addressed to me from my greensboro address, can i get that dropped?

also, if i wanted the speeding ticket reduced to 9 over, how would i go about that? do i plead guilty and then ask the judge? this is not my first ticket, but my other tickets were in another state. can i still use a PoJ here in NC? my previous tickets were handled by lawyers, but i think i have to actually go in myself on this one in order to get the other two dropped.

i know you guys are tired of ticket threads. sorry about that.

yeah, the ADA will probably drop that license shit if you update, and i bet money that he will automatically drop it to 9 over if you arent a dick on your court date. I wasn in court monday and that ada was doing that every time....

goodluck

i have never heard of the address thing before. that really sucks. my address on my license is my address in charlotte and i've never had a problem with it before. if i got a ticket for that i would so raise hell about it, thats complete bullshit. good luck with that one, so stupid...

man i got the exact same set of tickets about this time last year

fix your registration and take it to court...that'll be dropped

just go to the DMV, tell them you want a duplicate license made...they'll ask if your address is correct, and you then tell them what you want on there...take it to court and that'll should be dropped as well

speeding 12 over....well, 200 for a traffic offense lawyer might not be a bad idea...mine was dropped because I had more serious traffic charges pending at the time

thank you. do i need to say anything specific to the judge? i don't want to do something dumb like plead not guilty and then get myself in a real court case with no lawyer.

if you want to reduce it just go in and when its your turn to talk to the assistant da they will offer to reduce it (or ask if they dont offer) just say yes and they will tell you what to do. if you go to court first thing in the morning you will have to wait forever. and remember 9 over only counts as zero points if its your first ticket so if your insurance companies know about your other tickets this wont work. worst case scenario they wont reduce it, just ask for a continuance and come back with a lawyer.

^^hahaha, that happened to me in High School on a fix-it ticket. The officer told me I could get it dropped but I was late to court. The judge ribbed me about how the officer wasn't my lawyer but in the end he dropped it for me.

The address thing sounds like BS. I got pulled over in Richmond and my license has my sister's address where she used to live over five years ago. I got off scott free.

(1) speeding ... get a good lawyer? ... I know someone who got a ticket in another state, already used PFJ here, and nothing ever made it to insurance. Of course he got another ticket here and he's fucked anyway

(2) expired tags ... just get them renewed before your court date and the DA is authorized to drop it. I know because I got pulled for that, and mine were 5 months overdue and it was dropped. (basically I figured they'd mail me a renewal, but if they did it went to my old place)

(3) license ... take proof that you are a student with you and bonus points if you can show your parents are still supporting you some.

In reguards to the license thing I think if you prove you are a student you should have no trouble getting it dropped, but I do know a few years back, when we still had the brent road party every year, I was coming home from work one night and got checked at the road block. Just so happened that the Highway Patrolman who checked me was a former customer of mine so he knew I worked here too. It was at that point he informed me of the fact that I needed to change my address from my former beach address to my current Raleigh address or face getting a ticket.

DO NOT USE A PJC FOR THIS

they will reduce it to 9 over and it wont affect your insurance. use your pjc for the next one.

when i moved in 2003, my dad had just gotten in a wreck(not his fault), well the cop asked him about the different addresses, and didnt give him a ticket, but was basically like "you gotta change that or you will get fined like 60 dollars"

it made me kinda wonder what would happen cause mine is still the home address too

i've had 4 speeding tickets and i still have zero points on my insurance, just plead 'no contest' and tell the judge you made a mistake, they've reduced my tickets to 9 over every time so far, i still haven't used my pfj yet.

When I renewed my license at the DMV, the DMV guy wouldn't let me change my address. He said I should keep my parents address on there until I bought a house.
