why is that thread locked but the Jews/Edomite thread is allowed?

Seriously, wtf?

It was a pretty big discovery, it just happened, there was goddamn 2 hour show about it on the Discovery Channel or something. I don't see any reason for locking the thread whatsoever.

"discuss news, life" of the lounge & "basically anything serious" of the soap box both have some claim on news related to religion.

but maybe he thought it was more appropriate lounge material, and since there was already a more successful thread going there, he just locked the potential duplicate.

Doesn't affect what I said one bit if your thread would have been the 2nd one to come to the lounge. I think religion does belong in the soapbox, but you asked why & I was guessing as to why.

i didn't make a thread

i've commented in both because it is a topic (the real motive/actions surrounding Judas) that means a lot to me

i made this thread because i would like some rationalization as to why a thread about religion is locked while threads about Jews and Zionists and Edomites abound

and my comment about timestamps is the fact that the locked thread was created on 4/9
and the thread you linked to was created 4/10

Well, there was actual discussion about the Gospel of Judas thread in the Lounge.

The Soap Box thread had no posts of any value (maybe 1, and that's a stretch).

It probably got deleted because the last two posts seemed to be useless drivel and the lounge thread actually had content appropriate for the soap box.

If anything, I'd move the lounge thread to the soap box.

looking at the post history in the soap box
it appears the judas thread was bucketed ~an hour before the lounge thread was even created

do not mistake a lack of serious posts for a lack of potential

the time of night when it was made is a general lull period for soap box posters

if you look at the replies in the Lounge, you will see names that you rarely see in The Soap Box

my question returns though - if we are locking religion threads because they will be better served in The Lounge (which you could now make a case for as there were many more replies even later in the night than the Soap Box thread provided) why are threads on religion that involve theories that Seem a little more absurd to proliferate in The Soap Box

its a glaring inconsistency

Well I agree with you there. It does belong in the Soap Box. If salisburyboy's bizarre theories are allowed to be there, the Judas thread belongs in the Soap Box. The lounge thread shows promise. Move it plz.

The last post in the soap box may have been before the first post in the lounge. But by the time the threads were noticed by a moderator the lounge could have taken off while the soapbox went the non-serious route.

so are we now bucketing threads on presupposition of how a thread is going to wind up?

also - it is hard to determine if those are truly non-serious replies

my first reply is very serious

the second reply could be seen as serious - as the belief i espouse was seen as very heretical for centuries, and is still not widely accepted

the third reply is a summation of what the Gospel of Judas (the topic of the thread) is rumored to be about, Judas' account of a revelation he had that forced him to deliver Jesus to the priests

and my second reply, the fourth in the thread, was about another strained relationship that was never quite settled, where one party turned their back on another party because of God's calling
