VCU Coach Jeff Capel to be the next head coach at OU. Good for the ACC guy to get that kind of shot!

I'm actually upset about this because Capel is a great young coach who I was hoping would be an NC State target if a few guys didn't work out, I know it was a long shot but I think he was a great back-up plan.

Most sources say Brady from LSU is the #3 choice. I don't want him--would much rather have Billy Gillespie, or even Bobby Lutz. Brady is hot right now, but I think way overrated.

Okay, overreaction. That was a stupid statement. But I still don't want Brady.

I must admit, the anarchy was fun to watch.

Not that I don't think Jeff is a good coach....but the mofo is like 20 years old.

I would have thought Oklahoma could do a little better.

eh, i like this... Capel's fully capable of developing a program as he develops, and Oklahoma administrators know that their fanbase will be too distracted by football to notice the growing period...

how can you call him a crappy replacement???? he went 79-41 at f'ing VCU for crying outloud! he took them to the ncaa's in 04 and the nit in 05. they damn near knocked off 2 seeded wake forest in 04 as a 15 seed. i think its a great hire, hes one of the best young coaches in the country.

^Duke bias.

I think Capel is a good hire. It is taking a risk since he came from a low-profile job. He did a wonderful job at VCU and recruited good talent there. Imagine what he can do at Oklahoma. And let's face it, the Big 12 is down next year other than Texas and Kansas. Ok State, Missouri, Iowa State, Kansas State all have new coaches and are weak. Baylor is still suffering from their incident.

Bottom line: Why can't he succeed?

Agreed, I think this is the perfect job for him. It is high profile, but the fans really won't bat an eye at an NIT or two because they are blinded by football. Once Capel gets his kids in and really installs his style Okla. should be just fine, GL to ole' Jeff!

maybe a bit of duke bias but his results speak for themselves. it does appear to be a great situation there since bball isnt that high on the priority list, gives him some room to breathe.
