Is glue the best thing for this? I broke the handle off of my gear shifter (Automatic Transmission) and its hanging by the wires that are connected to the Overdrive button on the end.

I thought about glue but I doubt that it will hold for long since I use the shifter so much.

Any suggestions besides going to the dealership?

I've got a 74 F-100 that will crank in gear, and the gearshift rod came off the transmission one night and I didn't have anything to temporarily fix it with so I would have to cut it off, crawl under it, move the lever on the transmission to drive or reverse, get in, crank it in gear and go. that was not fun on a rainy night. it was as bad as when the clutch linkage worked loose on another truck I had one day as I was coming of the beltline. I had to crank it in low gear and shift without the clutch to get home.

HAHA, I got the part from the Ford Dealership ($50) and they said that it would take 2 hours and cost $140. My mechanic friend put it on in 10 MINUTES for free.

Then I get a recall letter from Ford today FOR THAT PART.
