Hey,
Does anyone know if there is a negative scanner on campus somewhere? I know they have regular scanners around, but I've never seen one for negatives. Has anyone else seen one? Huge bonus if it does 120 film.
Thanks!
PS Don't tell me that I can do this at photo development shops. I know this. I'm trying to avoid spending money. 4/12/2006 10:37:54 PM |

Cause I'm awesome!
Anyway, I looked up the DML website and they do have negative scanners. Points to ambrosia.

I'm gonna go ahead & warn you about those in the DML:
If you have lots & are planning on batch scanning, look out. They jam all the time. If you're doing just a few individually, you're good. 4/12/2006 11:37:40 PM |

^ ten-four -- thanks for the heads up! I have two 35mm rolls and one 120... hopefully it won't freak out on me. I'll be gentle 4/12/2006 11:54:44 PM |

What exactly is 120 film?
I used to have a 110 camera when I was little. It took those weird little sealed cartridges. Old-school. I remember it had a similar counterpart in 126. But I imagine this 120 you're talking about is just a bit more, um, modern? 4/12/2006 11:58:40 PM |

120 is a medium format film, larger than 35mm, therefore higher resolution. It's actually 56mm tall but width varies depending on your camera. Usually you'll see it referred to as 6x7, 6x9, and so forth.
Here's a website showing comparisons in frame size: http://www.photoethnography.com/ClassicCameras/index-frameset.html?filmformats.html~mainFrame 4/13/2006 12:10:17 AM |
