I have an idea and would like to run it past some people who are good programmers to figure out if it is doable.

Not sure what languages would be needed, but the front end would be web based(website to enter data and reference another site) and the back end could be whatever is needed(figuring out the most effecient way to solve a "problem"(quantifiable numbers, not like a theory or something) and reorganizing the data and spitting it back to the website for the user in a certain order). Not many details are clear as I do not have the know how to figure them out.

WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR:
I guess it would basically be a partner in a business venture, if the project is viable.
(read: if we can work it and get it going it would be nice, but I CAN NOT pay for the programming, so you would have to believe in the project and want to make it work also. of course, if any money did come from it, you would be entitled to whatever the arrangement was for your share)

I am being vague sort of on purpose, EZIM me and I can detail the project more.

^Nope, I know how TWW works. If I say my idea, 20 people come on and say,
1) I thought of that 2 years ago
2) This would be better
3) Your a moron.

This is easier and I will gladly sacrifice some ammount interest to avoid that fiasco.

^^^ that's called denial buddy

if your idea sucks so hard it won't even stand up to TWW scrutiny, why do you think someone else is going to implement it for you... for free?

Listen assholes,
the FIRST THING I SAID.

Quote :
"I have an idea and would like to run it past some people who are good programmers to figure out if it is doable."

Yes, I need someone who knows programming to see if it would work. I was also going to get their opinion on the idea also. All it is right now is an IDEA...

This is the reason I did not post the whole thing, but there is more than enough there to know if you can help or not. That is all I wanted.

AND, I said UP FRONT that there was no pay, you would have "TO BELIEVE IN THE PROJECT" to even want to do it.

Why is this so fucking difficult for you trolls to understand??? If you are not interested, just leave it be, if it flops, then it was my mistake. But unless one of you fuckers runs http://www.anandtech.com, or some other successful venture, get the fuck off my balls. AND IF YOU DO RUN SOMETHING SUCCESSFUL, OFFER CONSTRUCTIVE CRITISISM AND PROVE YOU HAVE GOOD IDEAS AND HELP OUT.

I can probably tell you if it's doable if you tell me the details, but I'm not really interested in actually working on it.

I can tell you, from experience. An incredible idea and a nickel is worth a nickel.

If you want to know if it's doable, you can PM/IM me and I'll let you know.

But almost 100% garaunteed that it's doable from a development standpoint, without even hearing about it. Second, why is someone else going to do ALL THE WORK for you? Are you planning on giving the developer controlling interest in the enterprise? Because that's about the only slim slight chance you have.

Money talks. It shows you are serious, and it lends credibility to your idea.

^Right now, I am not sure where the money would come from to turn it into profit, but I have some ideas.

Yes, I am looking for a partner for this idea, if it is doable(and most importantly, worth doing) I intend to work out some details where we are both happy with the arrangement.

I do not know if he would have a controlling interest, but I do not know if I would. Might be 50-50. But to get it started it would not be a huge ammount of coding required. But like I said, this idea is in its infancy, at best.

The best thing you can do is flesh out the parts you know.

Make sure it's got a solid business model, it's actually got a wide market, and research to make sure it's not already being done.

An Idea is pretty worthless. Everyone has a million ideas everyday. Great ones even.

And the way you find a partner is to buckle down and do the work yourself first. Take the time to learn the coding you will need, make a rough version, something to show you are invested in the thing.

yeah without doing any real legwork on your own you're presenting something like "hey, i've got an idea. i'm looking for someone to do all the work so i make 50% of the profits." see the problem there? i'm not knocking your intentions, you just need to flesh it out a bit like noen said.

^ i understand your point, and that is a good way to say it.

after talking with some people who were nice enough to respond, i am not sure there is any profit to be made. honestly, i still think the idea is good, but there is no money. it would be useful, but not profitable.

The idea is basically this:

A free website that maximizes your effeciency when you have to make multiple stops when traveling.

A salesman in Raleigh has to make 6 stops,
What would save him time/miles? Use a map site(google maps or mapquest) as a backbone and then a program to optimize the results and report it back to the website.

But there is no way to make money, that I can see.

There's always a way to make money.

This sounds like a different angle on the travel sights like expedia, etc. The way you generate revenue is with advertising and brokering services. The way you make money is if you can patent it and get one of the more established travel sights to buy you out.

Yes, I was unaware of the travelling salesman problem until I talked with some people.

Same thing though, instead of minimizing money, we are minimizing distance/time.

But, I have not seen a site that will let you do this for free. There are some pay programs.

If anyone can figure out a way to make it work, lemme know!
