why is this guy being overlooked? hes done amazing things at lowly charlotte and is what the herb lovers love to use a "class act"

Quote :
"On the court, Lutz's 49ers teams have amassed a 135-83 record. He attracted the 2001 National Freshman of the Year (Rodney White - ESPN.com and All-Star Sports) as well as three Top 20 recruiting classes (1999 - 19th; 2000 - 15th; 2002 - 19th)."

Quote :
"Recognized for his intensity and competitive spirit, Lutz is also known as a masterful strategist who maximizes potential. He has completely changed the landscape in which the 49ers recruit, regularly attracting top players and nationally-ranked recruiting classes.

In addition, Lutz is intelligent and loyal. He tutors players, stresses academic importance and takes pride in each graduate's success.

On top of all that, he's one of the good guys in the business. "

now for the real kicker

Quote :
"In his first season at the helm, Lutz made a quick impression by working some coaching magic. With a team picked to finish fifth in the American Division of Conference USA, Lutz posted a 20-win season, captured the C-USA Tournament Championship and earned the school's third straight NCAA berth. The 49ers finished the season ranked in the final AP poll (#24) and earned the program's best-ever NCAA Tournament seed at #5."

in summary
-proven to do well right away with shit talent
-great recruiter (today he just signed the miss player of the year)
-great in game coach
-north carolina guy
-"class act"

imo this guy is better than Cal because all we know cal can do is bring in nba players and ncaa investigations

Charlotte has fielded good teams for a while now.

Do your research.

I don't want him and his thug niggers here.

long story short, i broke into a basketball players dorm room one morning to steal some shit.

there happened to be a girl in the room who hadnt woken up yet.

me and a friend were in there for like 30 seconds before we saw her so she got a description of us... we took off when we saw her and she called 911 (a little excessive)

anyway when the cops showed up he kinda hooked us up and took care of it...

Incidentally, that player spent 5 years or so in the NBA.

I meant that Melvin Watkins already had the program at a good level.

And we aren't getting him, so why make a new thread n00b?

Lock this please.

i don't think he would be accepted by the majority of the wolfpack nation (it would be like hiring ecu's coach)

You really think Lutz is the guy to compete with K and Roy????

How many conference titles does he have in the mighty CUSA???

They were one of the top 5 Most Disappointing teams this year.

thats another problem with ncstate. looking at only 2006 results for coaches that did well. thats why assholes (alot worse than herb) like larranaga and brady are in the picture. NOBODY is going to consistently beat two of the top 3 program-coach combos in the nation. unless you brought in someone impossible like calhoun smith or pitino who still might not do it.

I cant even begin to describe how fucking sick I am of hearing about Herb Sendek.

He pussed out. He said he was happy with the direction of the program. He could have put our best players on the floor last year. He could have easily shut the fans up with a few simple comments or actions...like playing courtney fells...

BUT HE DIDNT YOU STUPID GOD DAMN MOTHER FUCKERS HE PEACED OUT I DONT WANT TO HEAR ABOUT 20 WIN SEASONS AND NCAA TRIPS ITS TIME TO MOVE ON

NO NO NO FUCK NO NO NO FUCK NO NO NO, who in the fucking world would want to play for him over Herb we need an upgrade. Every coach in the ACC would be laughing at us hysterically if we went from pretty much forcing Herb out to Bobby Lutz, I hope this is a fucking joke. PLEASE NO

They were expected to be average this year and got 2nd behind GW in the A-10, and should've won at GW if their idiot guard hadn't gotten a technical with 5 seconds left.

When you look at Charlotte in C-USA before the mass emigration to the Big East, they were near the top most years and that was in a conference with Memphis (Calipari), Louisville (Pitino), Cincinnati (Huggins), and Marquette (I don't know their coach but they made the Final 4 one year). And I can't think of a Charlotte player in the NBA.

If you don't think someone is up for the job, fine. But deleting a person's comments because of it is a bit Stalinist.

There's no one left I would consider an upgrade, unless you can get John Wooden out of retirement.

There is no one else you would consider and upgrade to Herb?
I dont mean that to talk bad about Herb but there has to be more out there. And I don't mean just in his basketball strategy but his appeal to big time recruits and television appeal. SOmeone that is afraid to talk out in the media and isnt going to bow down to K and Roy.

TV follows the money and victories, so do recruits. These guys don't have to work as hard to win and over time it shows unless the coach is a Wooden or Krzyzewski. That's why you have to get someone who worked hard his entire coaching career to get to this point. Will they always win? No, but they're hungry and committed. Heck, Krzyzewski came from West Point. A school no one wins at in basketball.

Look at Amato too, he has TV appeal, isn't afraid to talk out in the media and isn't bowing down to Bowden, Beamer, or Coker, but at best he's a ritzy Herb Sendek with just as equal a record.

I'm all about this guy.

1)He's a good guy

2)He's a winner

3)He plays exciting basketball

4)He's a great recruiter

5)He posted solid results against Cincy when they were one of the premeire programs in the country.

admitted slight bias cause ive interacted with him several times, but this guy is legit.

I'm not sold on Lutz's potential.

I'd rather have Greg Marshall.

Lutz is better than Whitt, but not better than Marshall.

If Whitt had already been in talks with Fowler and company I say go back to talking with him, out of respect. Otherwise, go the direction of Marshall then Whitt. We don't need Lutz.

^explain. why not lutz? I seriously don't see why people don't like him besides the porn stache.

I don't think he'd come anyways, because like it was already stated, he's a charlotte alum. although coaching in the ACC is without a doubt ten steps up from his current conference

After doing some research, this page presents Lutz in quite a good light. Funny how it's an "America's Best Dressed" article.
