.. on the entire album.

it doesnt mean that the rest of the album sucks, its just the rest of the album isnt up to par with the first track

I'll start with:

Franz Ferdinand- S/T
Tapes 'n Tapes- The Loon

filter - welcome to the fold (first song on "title of record")

i thought this was one of the most underrated songs ever, when it died pretty quickly but "take a picture" got so much play that people got sick of it

"ether" ~ gang of four from entertainment
"the seasons reverse" ~ gastr del sol from camofleur
"he's simple, he's dumb, he's the pilot" ~ grandaddy from sophtware slump
"my name is jonas" ~ weezer from blue album

i was going to qualify this choice. saying that it IS my favorite song on the album. i haven't listened to it in years, but it's still a decent song.

^^^what the hell does how old i was when the album came out have to do with anything??? its a timeless album in which i have probobly listened to a thousand times over the past 10 years, i dont think my age has anything to do with the perfection of that album

^^you're joking right?

i mean, thats one of those albums our kids will know about

so i have to like it?

plenty of artists have influential or important albums. doesn't mean i haven't outgrown them. there are some good songs on that album. my favorite is my name is jonas. some of the songs suck. many better albums came out that year. just because they didn't reach as many people as the blue album doesn't mean that they are any worse.

also: i was gung-ho weezer through pinkerton and then i bought the green album at midnight and hated the fucking shit out of it. so i think that shaded my opinions of their whole body of work.

so, in short, no i'm not kidding. i no longer like the blue album very much. half the songs are utterly forgettable, the rest are pretty good.

its dismissive to say its "too middle school"

it would be on par with saying "the beatles are too cold war"

i think it's worthy of dismissing (to me at least)
i've moved on.

it's something i liked in middle school, and was at that level of my musical sophistication. i'd like to think i've grown in my tastes since then. some haven't. that's ok.

that is:
i'm not saying it belongs in the mid-90s, but that it appeals to 13 yo's.

^^what in the hell am i digging? i actually contributed somethign to this thread, you're just trolling at this point.

so i don't like weezer. you do. move on. they are a band loved by wanna be emo high schoolers now. i'm sorry they didn't pan out with good new music. i really wish they had.

i liked pinkerton better when i still listened to them anyway.

so, 'foot, are there any first tracks that you think far outshine the rest of the album?

you're the one saying things like
Quote :
"i'd like to think i've grown in my tastes since then."

and
Quote :
"i'm not saying it belongs in the mid-90s, but that it appeals to 13 yo's."

and i've already made a couple suggestions

i'd offer "lapdance" but i'm sure someone would be all like "OMG BOBBY JAMES!"

I thought Hunted By a Freak was the best song off of Happy Songs for Happy people

and Freetime by Kenna off New Sacred Cow was the first real song on the album an was the best.

those are all great songs, but i disagree with each one of those picks because of this statement:
